24.01.2022 The lady to my left is Kay Gravell. She was my mentor, my role model, my Yoda and my beloved friend. The other two ladies are Amanda and Donna, my gorgeous kindreds who shared the love of this amazing woman. Kay died of stage 4 melanoma at dawn on 10/11/18. Two months ago Kay won 8 gold medals for swimming in Paris. Today I was privileged enough to hold space with the Victorian students and my amazing colleagues from the Ikon Institute in Melbourne for a remembrance vigil in ...her honour. I know she would be humbled by this co-created experience of loss and grief. This woman believed in me and every person she met. She made it her business to find out what other people were good at, even if they didnt know it yet, and then encourage and nurture them to make their talents shine. I love her and miss her so much. 19.01.2022 Yesterday was such a glorious day for equine and art therapy. My clients all commented on how soothed they felt by the environment. Warm sun on skin, gentle rustling of eucalyptus leaves, quiet grazing horses. 14.01.2022 Ephemeral art is a work of art that only occurs once, like a happening. Once created, it is left to the elements of nature, fated to be scattered by the wind, drifting away over time. Much like our lived experience of the present moment, it cannot be embodied in any lasting object like other art forms. In one of Todays EAP sessions - my client gathered some things that had some interesting sensory qualities. she then made a little ephemeral art piece to symbolise the present moment awareness she had learned from the horses. 04.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone! Im looking for a young and vibrant female support worker for one of my NDIS clients. Her current support worker is going backpacking in March and so her mum has asked me to assist looking for a responsible, fun yet down to earth person to take over for a few hours each week when the time comes. My client is 24 years old and is an absolutely delightful human. She loves art, Disney, Harry Potter, musicals, dressing up, socialising with friends and work colleagues, live music, singing all her fave Disney anthems and hanging out for cups of tea and chats. Please PM me if you have experience as an NDIS support worker and are looking for casual work in the SE suburbs in the coming months.

So my colleague Sandi and I just finished installing this fabulous exhibition at the Flinders Uni Sturt Campus Cafe, showcasing the unique and creative abilities of my clients. The exhibition is called This is Me! And the artwork is all created by adults with an acquired brain injury. Sometimes life can turn on a dime and being in the wrong place at the wrong time can change peoples lives forever. Yesterday I saw a young boy with high functioning autism who struggles very much with uncontrollable anger. He has repeatedly indicated a wish to work with clay. After an hour of working the 'gold raku' in his hands, the transformation from the rageful child who arrived into the calm clear-headed child who left brought me back to the words of Patrica Sherwood: "Clay is an ideal mate...rial for absorbing the strong emotions of anger and for allowing expression of these emotions." it provides a kind of 'chaotic discharge'. (2004, p.71) Is this little boy's fascination/curiosity with clay deeply connected to his body's innate knowledge that it is precisely what he needs? I think so... For other arts therapists out there, this book has become one of those old faithful dog-eared tomes that never lets me down when it comes to fear, anger, grief and the wounded psyche. Sherwood, P.
