09.01.2022 In preparation for Round 7 Saturday 19 December 2020, ASCA is calling this the Men’s Mental Health Awareness Round. At this time of the year there are many festivities, parties, hopefully joy and fun .... after a very trying period during Coronavirus19. Please take care of your mates. It is very easy in this festive time to follow the joy, but to not notice a mate who may be withdrawn and not participating in the activities of the moment. That is the moment where that person ...may be at their most vulnerable worst state of mind, and will need your care and attention. A friend of mine wrote the following poem as a dedication and support to all the men in her life. The poem is called "Oh to be a boy or man?" Oh to be a boy or man .. To achieve a beer gut And not be asked How long you got to go? Men get to pat each other on the back Celebrating their burps and farts Telling each other mateeee . That was a work of art Boys get to stay out late No curfews on their first date Boys get more food on their plates And another notch on their belt Makes them a man.... Men ... men are the glue In keeping a family together They are the story tellers The rocks They leave a legacy Hand down history Like an old grandfather clock They pass on parts of the past And there are parts That will tear you apart And others that will Bring on a good belly laugh . Men are strength to the core Deep voices baritones Beautiful sounds ... but Men hide their pain And their tears In a box....LOCKED....key....lost!! And statistics are still 1 in 4 And those men don’t get to walk Back through their doors and We are still telling our boys To suck up their tears Big boys don’t cry Grow a pair Man up Step up .. Well it’s time for us To wake up Or we’ll be picking up The pieces of another Broken man . So I don’t ever Want to be a boy or man Unrealistic expectations Placed in my hands So let’s hold out our hands To our men . Whether you’re a mother, Daughter, sister, friend or wife . Keep that door open For the men In your life Written by Tracey O’Callaghan Please watch out for your mates. Every life matters. Please share this poem?
09.01.2022 ASCA SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE SIDE We are delighted to announce that SACA have invited an ASCA Senior Representative side to play the SA Boomerangs on Karen Rolton Oval. This game will follow on from Day One of the Aboriginal Cricket Carnival being played at Park 25 (Ovals behind Karen Rolton Oval) so it is likely that there will be a number of communities from around SA in attendance to watch the match.... This is an exciting opportunity for the Association and one that we happily accepted. It was important to enable our better players in the Association to come together to play a game as team mates. It is a added bonus that it also provides them the opportunity to play on a First Class Venue. WHEN: Sunday 7th March 2021 FORMAT: T20 WHERE: Karen Rolton Oval TIME: 6pm to 9pm

03.01.2022 WET WEATHER IMPORTANT POINTS FOR CAPTAINS SAYS: 7. Captains should insist that every reasonable effort is made to get matches started or resumed in difficult conditions. Matting can be rolled or covered during showers and attempts made to soak up or disperse water. No damage can be done to the pitch or oval and heed should be paid to the owner’s conditions of use. 8. Should there be loss of play due to inclement weather it can become very complicated though the thrust ...of the idea is simply to divide the available time evenly between the two sides. Consult Special Match Rule 6 Hours of Play 2-Day Matches, SMR 7 Declarations 2-Day Matches and SMR 8 One-day Games. For 2-Day matches an interruption during the innings of the team batting second will only cause a draw if the team batting second does not face as many overs as the team that batted first. It doesn’t matter that they would have had more overs with no loss of playing time. SPECIAL MATCH RULES SMR 6. (f) Where inclement weather delays or interrupts play, the first 30 minutes shall cause no reduction in the number of overs to be bowled but thereafter the number of overs to be bowled shall be reduced by one (1) over for each whole four-minute period lost. See SMR 7 (b) 7. (b) (i) Where the allocated overs have not been bowled on Day one, the team batting first, if not dismissed, may continue batting on the second day. First any incomplete over from Day one will be completed. The team may then continue batting for half the number of overs lost with any half over completed. Should this extra batting time be further delayed or interrupted by inclement weather best efforts will be made to divide the available overs for the match evenly between the teams. If the compulsory closure will limit the innings to less than twenty (20) overs, the game will be a draw. (ii) The final over which results in a change of innings shall be deemed to be a completed over, irrespective of the number of fair deliveries bowled. (c) (i) After a compulsory closure of an innings the team batting second shall also declare its innings closed after the bowling of the same number of overs. The team scoring the higher number of runs is the winner on the first innings. (ii) Where a team batting first is dismissed or declares before a compulsory declaration is enforced the team batting second is entitled to receive at least as many overs as received by the team that batted first but may continue batting until stumps on the second day. A draw on the first innings will only result if interruptions to play prevent the team batting second receiving at least as many overs as the team batting first.
