21.01.2022 Wearing a face mask provides an additional physical barrier, and helps to slow the spread of COVID-19. . How to put a mask on: 1 Wash and dry (or sanitis...e) your hands. 2 Take your clean, unused mask by the ear loops or strings. 3 Put them over your ears or tie them behind your head. 4 Make sure your mask is completely covering your nose, mouth and chin. . Don’t touch or adjust the front of your mask while wearing it it’s the part that’s protecting you from COVID-19. If you do touch it by accident, wash or sanitise your hands right away. . How to take a mask off: 1 Wash and dry (or sanitise) your hands. 2 Do not touch the front of your mask while removing it. Use only the ear loops or strings. 3 Store cloth face masks in a plastic bag until you have an opportunity to wash them. When disposing single-use surgical face masks, place in a bag or lined bin. Do not put masks into the recycling bin. 4 Wash and dry (or sanitise) your hands. . To learn more about face masks: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDmasks

18.01.2022 Our volunteers love being out and about at events! With crowd numbers increasing, the AFL game days are a great chance for newer members to build skills and more veteran members to teach! Dr Megan wandered around to catch up with other volunteers, see if they needed a hand and sent these in.

16.01.2022 To conclude our celebration this National Volunteer week, the management / social media team from Adelaide Central division want to thank the awe-inspiring volunteer doctors, nurses, paramedics and responders both in ACD, and across St John as a whole. We think you are all absolute heroes, thank you for your service!

16.01.2022 No words seem enough to express our admiration and gratitude for the women and men who run towards danger to save others. Thank you to all the Paramedics, we couldn’t be more prouder or grateful to work in with amazing Paramedics and SA Ambulance Service at events in the community.

15.01.2022 A good news story about the kind of volunteers we are so proud to have in our St. John family

14.01.2022 Guess what’s back!!! The St John Christmas Home Lottery! More prizes, more houses and more funds for our volunteers. Makes a great Chrissy present for that person who has every thing. Tickets have just gone on sale!! https://stjohnlottery.com.au/

14.01.2022 As National Volunteer week comes to an end, I want to introduce you to Miriam and James, two of our registered nurses who have been volunteering with St John SA for an incredible combined total of 42 years! "James initially joined as a junior in Mt. Gambier before transferring to Prospect cadets when he moved to Adelaide for Uni. Miriam began at Prospect, and was there for many years, before joining Adelaide Central Division together. They both credit some amazing nurses th...ey worked with in St. John for leading them into the nursing profession themselves. James is now an Emergency Nurse at the QEH, and Miriam works in Intensive Care at the RAH." The division and organisation is all the better for their service, especially because Miriam and James contribute so much to health care already through their paid work. They bring so much experience with them as volunteers at events, and when training others in St John. Thank you Miriam and James!!!

14.01.2022 R U OK? is the start of an important conversation! It’s been a tougher year than most for many of our friends and family, and if you haven’t had a chance to check in - make today the day you ask the question. A conversation really can change a life

14.01.2022 Mel has been a member of Adelaide Central since its inception, and we are so proud to celebrate the next step in the St. John journey of such an amazing volunteer and inspirational woman.

13.01.2022 Ever wonder what it’s like to live with a severe food allergy? This is a great short video detailing these children’s experiences and briefly how to use an epipen!

13.01.2022 The heat can easily sneak up on you! Drink lots of water, check in on any vulnerable people who are a part of your community and don’t forget about your pets as well!

11.01.2022 Prior to lock down, our Adelaide Central divisional trainers had an excellent session together with State staff learning via Zoom with a specialist technician about the new Laerdal Australia mannequin St John SA has purchased (it has a heart beat, breath sounds and can speak!). We learnt how to program our own settings to bring higher fidelity simulation to our training and can’t wait for face-to-face training to resume so we can experiment and learn with this amazing resource.

10.01.2022 We are excited to have some of our ACD volunteers back at Adelaide Oval tonight, and in the coming weeks! Say hi if you see them around, and as always if you need help we are very close at hand. #volunteer #stjohn

09.01.2022 Whether you are going to see your GP, are talking to hospital staff or even one of our St. John volunteer responders or health care workers at events, please remember that they are there to help you. Be kind!

09.01.2022 For many of us, wearing a mask is a necessary inconvenience. But for the one in six people in our community who are deaf or hearing impaired, wearing masks can be incredibly isolating. Anthony Cignarella is a nurse educator in our heart and lung team he’s also hearing impaired. He’s put together some tips on communicating while wearing a mask.

09.01.2022 Have you heard any of these myths lately? Make sure you’re up to date with the facts!

08.01.2022 We love what we do, that’s why we volunteer. We are proud and thankful for all the first responders around the world, who every day put themselves on the frontline to help others. Thank you First Responders, we salute you ... #ThankaFirstResponder #TAFRD #FirstResponderDay

07.01.2022 Couldn’t be a nicer day to enjoy the test cricket at Adelaide Oval! Adelaide Central volunteers together with members from across the state are having a blast supporting the crowd and staff to have a safe day out.

07.01.2022 With so much going on in the community, awareness-raising days such as White Ribbon Day remain so incredibly vital. Many South Australian families are quarantining and isolating in their homes, which is undoubtedly a stressful time, however regardless of the situation violence against women and families is never acceptable. White Ribbon Day encourages everyone to stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women.... For those who are in an unsafe home situation please seek help, and you can call 1800RESPECT for support and information.

07.01.2022 Today's live COVID-19 update will be at 12.30pm.

06.01.2022 Happy Birthday to our Sensational Superintendent Dr Megan! Thank you for leading and inspiring us

02.01.2022 We loved this beautiful rendition of 'Count of Me' by Bruno Mars. Thank you to the gorgeous health care workers who put it together! Hopefully it brings a smile to your face as well.

01.01.2022 Search out an opportunity to be kind today! Even one small act can have a greater effect than you might realise.
