25.01.2022 You should see my camera roll on my phone... it is full of pics I take for content. Different angles, close up's, long shot's, videos.. often of the same thing! Of course, I don't use everything, but I like to take a bunch so I have more of an option to choose from and pick what will best match the message. ... I also like taking a range of random pics because for me, it can trigger ideas of more content to use down the track. Coming up with content is one of the hardest parts of social media.. and one of the most time consuming. It's difficult to be creative while running your business! I've been in the creative industry a very long time, so coming up with ideas is just something that I do day in day out. Some of them are shockers and get crossed off the list.. but sifting through every idea is important to get that final piece. If you need a bit of help to get your business noticed and save you time drop me a DM and we can chat about how to go about getting it done!
25.01.2022 Have you ever considered what would happen if your social media accounts were shut down or deleted? It's not something any of us really think about - but at the end of the day, none of us own our accounts. So if Instagram close your account tomorrow, with no explanation, what do you think would happen to all of your customers? Poof! They would be gone! Just like that! ... Not only that, you are also at the mercy of changing algorithms that can make it harder for you to reach your customers. So what do you do? Get them onto your email list! This you do own - and if anything did happen, you can still continue your relationship with your loyal customers! Plus - we all know that selling constantly on socials is a no-no... but it's more acceptable on email, so this is where you can unashamedly sell without turning people off (within reason!) So, definitely keep going with socials because this is how people find you.. but adding an email list will also be a great asset to keeping your relationship going with your customers! If you're thinking of building your email list - or have one, but aren't sure what to do with it, flick me a DM and I can give you a hand!
22.01.2022 I recently interviewed a lovely lady for a social media profile, who changed her career in her 30's. Now 57, she owns and runs a business and hasn't once looked back She was very engaging and I found myself talking to her for a while because she was so passionate about her business. Her motto was to just put yourself out there and DO IT! Something many of us struggle with! I think it's pretty cool that people have the desire to do this and work hard to succeed in their ch...osen path, especially after doing something else for so long! Have you ever completely changed your career after being in a different industry for so long? Perhaps you've been presented an opportunity to do so with the affects of COVID? I'm keen to know your stories and what helped make your decision!
21.01.2022 TRENDING... Fonts! Its not hard to see that serif fonts are big at the moment - especially on the social media front. Using them for text based posts (such as motivational quotes) has become very popular, especially if they are combined with a subtle colour palette. (HOWEVER, this look is also saturating social media, so beware your brand doesn't start looking like everyone else's!). ... There are many to choose from, so it really depends on your branding, but rounder serif fonts are becoming increasingly popular as they are retro inspired, playful and friendly! Consider combining them with a contrasting sans serif or script font for a more interesting visual! And if you need any help with getting your look right, you know where I am!
21.01.2022 It's a three coffee kinda day Who else needs a pick me up after the long weekend and the change to daylight savings?
20.01.2022 One of my favorite quotes Deadlines aren't all bad I actually enjoy setting them for myself because it allows me to plan my day more efficiently and gives me a sense of urgency to finish off jobs and get them off my list quicker! Of course, sometimes sh*t happens and they aren't met (WHOOSH!) Hey - it happens (but I do believe having strong processes to follow helps get through these occurrences easier!).... These are some of the tools I use to organise my workloads: Trello is a great online tool that helps me visualise what tasks I need to complete and by when. If I'm working on a large project that requires a lot of attention, I sometimes close my emails and leave my phone in another room. Resisting the temptation to look at them makes me much more productive. Exercise! A big one for me - running seems to be where I work out my priorities and also where I come up with some of my content ideas! My trusty notepad goes everywhere with me! If I get an idea or thought I write it down and I can go back to it when I'm ready for it! Of course everyone has different ways of getting through their day. What's your best tip?
19.01.2022 Do you want your social media to be successful? Of course you do! So who's your target audience? ... If you answered "everyone" or "I don't know" then you're in trouble! The first step in a successful social media account is knowing your target audience. You MUST know who you want to communicate to! And I'm talking more than just age and gender, you need to understand their problems, their values and their needs! Once you know who you're talking to, you can align your content to provide solutions for them! But where do you start? Right here! Download my Target Audience Worksheet that I use to drill-down into the persona's you want and be on your way to successful socials! https://bit.ly/2WTtIeA
19.01.2022 I put up an Instagram story yesterday asking people if they felt as though they had a good work-life balance. Not surprisingly, most said no I used to struggle but I have found that I simply cannot focus all my time on one thing it doesnt suit me. It took time to get to this point it takes effort to stop and breathe! Heres some of the things that help me to achieve the balance! ... Planning. I use the last 10mins of my day to plan the following day so Im not thinking about what needs to be done in my down-time. Scheduling exercise. I make sure I set a time to workout. Run, walk, weights... whatever gets me away from the desk! Phone-free time every day. Theres nothing quite like a genuine conversation with someone without phones in hands. Date nights. My partner and I are quite sociable people, so we like to have a date night together once a week and also plan get-together's on weekends. This helps break up the working week AND gives us something to look forward to! Basically the key for me is to be organised and schedule down-time into my day!! I hope this helps!
19.01.2022 Whaddya mean Instagram and Facebook aren't the only places I can showcase my business? While Facebook and Instagram are great platforms to be on for your business, you may also benefit from other channels, too! I’m not saying you should be on every single platform there is, but you could be missing out on some awareness if your brand is suitable for a different channel.... For example: Pinterest is great for inspiring people visually with your products or services that they can search for and save. Eg. If you were an interior designer, you could give tips on current trends. These pins can then then take the follower back to your website which drives traffic and sales. YouTube is perfect for showcasing your business through videos. You could use it to launch a new product, show your brand’s personality and customer testimonials, all while expanding your brand awareness. LinkedIn is important if you are B2B orientated and a great resource if you’re trying to build connections and leads with other businesses. It’s a good platform to showcase your business and to show your expertise in your industry. Of course, the same rules apply for all of these be consistent and create content that your audience wants to see. If you’re keen to know about other social media platforms that might be right for your business, flick me a DM and I can offer some suggestions on what might suit your business! . . . . . #adelaidedesignanddigital #southaustralia #adelaide #socialmediatips #socialmediaadelaide #adelaidebusiness #contentcreation#socialmedia #marketing #socialmediamarketing #digitalmarketing #instagram #branding #business #entrepreneur #business #pinterest #youtube #linkedin #businessowner #business #success #motivation #marketing #startup #businesstips #hustle
19.01.2022 What do battle ropes, gable verandahs and taxation all have in common? They are terms Ive learnt while working with different industries on design & social media projects over the years. Its one of my favourite parts of working with businesses I love learning about things I never knew much about and understanding terms and how the industry works. ... Seeing business owners and employees excel at their craft awes and inspires me and makes me want to really, really hard! Who inspires you in business?
19.01.2022 Someone new visiting your social media? Do you know how to start gaining their trust from the get-go? A high number of followers? Nope ... According to the Yellow Social Media Report (2020) people are more likely to trust your brand if you: Regularly update your content 53% Have engaging and relevant content 54% 51% are also are impressed if your brand interacts with customers in a positive way. A pretty good reason to make sure youre regularly updating your socials with some cool content! Im always happy to help if you need a hand with content and the like flick me a DM if you need! Otherwise happy posting!!
19.01.2022 HAPPY WORLD SOCIAL MEDIA DAY! There is seriously a day for everything So in honour of this said day, here's a few stats about social media! 71% of Australians are active on social media... Australians spend a daily average of 1 hour and 44 mins on social media Facebook and YouTube are the most popular platforms followed by Messenger and Instagram 98% of people use social media on their phones 25 - 34 year olds are the biggest users of social media, with women being the more active gender These stats are a good reminder of the importance of having social media for you business, especially when you look at the amount of people using it and how long they use it for. It's also good to think about other platforms (there is more to social media than Facebook and Instagram) and to make sure your ads and posts are optimised for mobile phones! If you do need help getting your social media to where it needs to be, drop me a DM Until next time (Stats from Hootsuite's "We are Social" report - Jan 2020)
18.01.2022 A great way to reinforce positive comments (and hide the negative one's at the bottom)...
18.01.2022 Just because that's the way things have always been done, doesn't mean that it's the most effective way! When was the last time you looked over how you run your business to see if there was an easier way of doing certain tasks? With the increase of new apps and software, streamlining your processes doesn't have to be so daunting. There's a couple of time saving tools and processes I use to make my life easier... things such as using a scheduling app to schedule my posts at ...peak times, another is to produce posts, blogs and videos in batches, so they are easy to grab when I need them. Everyone has their own kind of busy, so it's great to have ways of helping you achieve what you need to in a simpler way - and let you get back to running your business.. or relaxing with a cuppa! When was the last time you gave your business a bit of an overhaul?
17.01.2022 Are you checking your social media insights? It really is, errr, insightful! But it really is a good idea to check in on how your posts are doing. Have a look to see which ones are giving your followers value and which ones arent and then continue with those kinds of posts to bring in more engagement!... Look at things like comments, shares, saves, link clicks and profile visits (Instagram) it shouldnt just be about how many people like your post. Also its important to look at when your audience is most active and make sure you post around this time. Have a look into your insights each week and use the information to drive your socials! Its an insightful task!
16.01.2022 Anyone for coffee? Last week I spoke about how I can help save you time and money with one of my packages I offer. Not only does this package save you time from doing everything yourself, its also a more cost effective way of getting your social media more consistent and looking good (for more info, check out my post titled The Package).... The one thing this package does require is clear communication and a few coffee meetings here and there! From my past life as a studio manage, I have dealt with a lot of wonderful clients and I have gained plenty of experience working closely with them. Doing something like this I something that comes easy to me, as I enjoy the communication! And not only that, if it helps get traction on your social media then that is above all, the perfect scenario! If you're keen to get your social media to the next level, drop me a DM and we can have a chat about how it works!
16.01.2022 Remember to close all the tabs in your head - not just your computer! I hope you all manage to get out and enjoy the sunshine today. It's too nice of a day to be sitting in front of the computer for too long...don't waste the opportunity (even if it's just 5 mins!)
16.01.2022 How to get email subscribers! I've been chatting a bit about email marketing lately, and the other day I offered some ideas to attract subscribers to your database e-books are a really great way to give potential subscribers some value in exchange for their email address.... An e-book could be anything such as: How-to guides Worksheets Catalogues Recipe books Tips and tricks cheat sheets For example (as shown) you may be a fitness instructor and do a mini e-book on what the benefits are for basic yoga poses, and a few of your favourite recipes What industry are you in? Comment below and I'll see if I can offer you some ideas! Or if you want to dive straight in, but still need help, send me a DM and we can get it off the ground! All hail the e-book!
15.01.2022 LOOK UP FROM YOUR PHONE! What's the first thing you see? Happy Friday everyone - I hope you spend lots of time looking up this weekend!
15.01.2022 A simple reminder... especially in these times Trying to balance work and life can be tricky for some right now... so if you are able to delegate - then delegate... get some of that work off your plate. So, I'm putting it out to the universe... anyone who is wanting to achieve a better work-life balance - let me help you! ... I can take your social media off your hands - not necessarily all of it (if you prefer). We can share the load and make it easier for you to get other things done (and it's a much better option financially, too). Let me help. Flick me a DM and we can chat... it's worth a shot!
13.01.2022 Whats the first thing that suffers when you get busy running your business? For a lot of people, its their social media. Who has the time to think of content and post when you have a million other things to do, right? Unfortunately, its something that shouldnt be forgotten because its so important to be present for your followers. ... So, what should you do? Have strong business processes in place! This allows you to streamline tasks and also off-load to other staff members if you need to. Delegate! As above off-load some of your work to staff, or even out-source if you can. Have a content pool! Have a bunch of posts sitting there waiting for you to use when youre too busy to think of content! (you can batch these in quieter times). Schedule! Use the above point and spend half an hour at the beginning of the week scheduling these posts so you dont need to worry! My biggest tip - don't get overwhelmed! Take regular breaks and BREATHE!!! If you find sometimes you get too bogged down, flick me a DM and we can chat about joining forces to get your social media running consistently without you needing to worry. Easy!
13.01.2022 Just a little reminder! Let's go back to a very important part to your socials... your target audience. Have you sat down, worked out who they are and what they want from you? Once you know, you can tailor your content to suit them and what their needs are. ... It's a very important part to your social media strategy! And I'm talking more than just age and gender! Some of the things you need to consider are: What do they value What problems do they face Where do they hang out (news sites, Instagram, Twitter?) Remember, you need to create content that makes your audience FEEL something... but how can you do that if you don't really know what makes them happy? If you want to know more, feel free to download my target audience worksheet from the link below Or if you need a bit of extra help - slide into my DM's and we can chat! https://bit.ly/2WTtIeA
13.01.2022 Some branding colours I've been working on for a client who sells crafty goodies at markets Which one do you like better?
12.01.2022 Are you getting overwhelmed? My Instagram & Facebook are overflowing right now with offers of a free download or insights into a successful social media account. Even for me, the information out there can be quite full on. How many of you download something, but is forgotten about when someone else offers something different? Or dont read it because its conflicting or too much info? ... So, you dont end up changing anything because its too hard to devote the time to it! And then it gets to that point where you know you could do with a bit of help, but a social media manager is hard to justify especially in this climate. Sound familiar? So, the trick is to finding the balance between doing it yourself, but also getting a little help that you dont need to spend time or a lot of money on. I might have the answer for you Keep an eye out in the coming days and Ill tell you what it is
11.01.2022 Who else is excited that footy's back? I've been a Geelong Cats supporter since I was a kid, so I've seen a few good seasons and a few bad ones I never thought I would miss the weekend footy as much as I have... so I'm glad that some things are slowly getting back to normal! ... Who are you supporting this weekend?
11.01.2022 Today's HUMP DAY post is powered by my Rave Llama socks from Funky Sock Co I fell in love with these socks when I saw them on Instagram... they sum me up perfectly! Bright and happy I particularly love the Llama at the top with his boom box ... Who else has some cool socks like these? Post a pic below!
10.01.2022 In my past life I was a studio manager for a publishing, graphic design and web business. I primarily looked after the design and the production of the publications. I loved this job I was there for 12 years, and I gained so much life and career experience in that time. One of the most valuable things I learnt was how to be flexible. ... I managed 11 magazines, including a weekly, monthlys, bi-monthlys and annual. They were all for different clients, and all of these clients had their own way of working. I was totally ok with that. I actually enjoyed adapting my working style to suit others it made my job more interesting! I am a sucker for a good system. Without a system, everything just falls apart. So, once I worked out my clients working style, I worked out a system to make sure it suited them and ran efficiently. For one of the magazines I managed, the SANFL Footy Budget (Westies supporter right here!) I was dealing with at least 10 different contributors on a weekly basis. So, the system needed to be tight. That part of my career has certainly prepared me well to be able to offer a shared social media package. Which if you dont already know, is when we share your social media responsibilities to get it looking and running consistently. If youre interested in learning more about this, feel free to drop me a DM. Go Westies!
10.01.2022 As I've been talking about insights lately, I thought I would explain impressions and reach. Both are important insights to monitor, but what exactly are they? Impressions are the number of times your content has been displayed on screen and is the metric we use to count how often your content is being shown to your audience. Reach is the total number of unique people who have seen your content. ... So, for example if I saw a post from a business, the reach would be counted as one. But if 2 of my friends shared the post and I saw it twice more, the impressions would be three, as it has now been on display three times. When your impressions are rising, you know that it is surfacing into more people's feeds, which is essentially brand awareness. To increase your impressions you need to increase your reach. This is done by: Knowing your audience and creating content that connects with them Creating interesting content - does it educate or inspire and make people want to engage with it? Posting at the times your audience is online Engaging with your audience as much as possible! I hope that explains it! And if you need some help with your content, you know where I am!
09.01.2022 Spring is here! Which means a good, old fashioned spring clean is on the cards! It seems like cleaning and sanitising is ALL we have been doing the last few months, but spring is always a great opportunity to give your social media profiles a bit of a clean and review, too! Here's some ideas to give your socials a spring clean!... Review your strategy are you on track to achieving your social media goals, or do you need to change direction? Is your content geared towards your goals and are you checking your insights to see what is successful and what isnt? Review what channels you are using (or not). If you have a social media profile that is lying dormant, make the decision to either give it another go, or delete it. For example did you set up a business Twitter page two years ago that you havent touched? Check your profile pics and cover pics do they need to be updated, or do you need a nice refresher? Facebook cover pics are a great item to change regularly and remind followers of your services or a promote a particular product. Look over your bios and about sections. Are they relevant and up to date? Also check if your links are working! De-cluttering and reviewing your socials at this time of the year sets you up for the home straight to Christmas, where many of us will review everything again. Happy cleaning! PS. If you need help to optimise your social media - slide into my DM's and I'd be happy to chat!
08.01.2022 What was your biggest highlight this week? I have a couple - the first was definitely getting out and enjoying this summery weather with my partner & doggo! The second was finally finishing off some templates for my biz to make my life easier down the track Tell me what you got up to!
08.01.2022 Ahh Social media Its so important for businesses... but like many, do you have a love-hate relationship with it? Youre not alone ... If social media is not your main job, but you somehow got roped into managing the accounts, theres bound to be something that doesnt come easy to you. Some of the main reasons why people come to me are (apart from the copious coffee meetings!) They struggle to come up with interesting ideas for their content They cant make it look or sound right They cant find the time to be consistently posting They arent tech savvy and cant get their head around how it all works They want more leads and engagement. So dont stress. It takes time and effort to get it consistent and interesting! So I do recommend you take the time to sit down and plan and brainstorm and see where that takes you. But if you do feel as though you need some guidance, please DM me Id be happy to help!
07.01.2022 I love a good system I truly believe that if your business doesnt have strong processes in place, it is destined for problems. Maybe not straight away, but down the track - DEFINITELY. A business must be built on the basis that if youre not there for any reason then it can continue to operate without you. Theres no point in going on holidays if youre getting calls every 5mins because no one knows how you do things! ... Not only that, the processes in place should be able to handle business growth. For me, streamlining tasks saves me time, improves productivity and keeps my head clear for the next task whether that be for work or home. What do you think? Do you wing-it, or are you like me and need to have everything planned?
04.01.2022 EMAIL MARKETING!! What a great tool for your business! It’s easy to use, free (in most cases), fast and a cost-effective way of reaching new customers and retaining current one’s. Plus, you can personalise your messages to your target audiences. BUT (there’s always a but) you do need to follow the same principles of your social media:... Strategy (yep, you need direction!) Consistency (once in a while ain’t gonna cut it) Bloody good content (think special deals, new releases, blogs, tips and more) If you’re really wanting your business to go beyond your social media, then email marketing might be the path for you. If you’re not sure if you’re ready to dive in send me a DM or email me at [email protected] and together we can work out what direction is best for you! Otherwise keep an eye out on my socials in the coming days for some ideas to get people onto your list!
04.01.2022 DON'T STOP NOW! It takes time to build your brand on social media.. you could be so close to getting that lead or sale, so keep going and make sure you're present and consistent There are 3 stages that your customers go through before purchasing your product or service:... Awareness Consideration Decision and it can take a while to get through to that decision stage, so keep at it! Besides being consistent, make sure you spend a little time interacting with your ideal audience... like and comment on their posts, send them reactions to their stories. It's this interaction that will strengthen your relationship with them. I'm nearly ready to purchase off a couple of brands on Instagram (but they don't know what yet)... I'm just waiting for the right time for me.... and to be honest, its the interactions with them that have made me feel that they know what they are doing and I can trust them! So keep going - be consistent and interact!
04.01.2022 Hello friends! Hows the content coming along? Are you getting the reach and engagement you are after? Sitting down regularly to assess your content and brainstorm ideas is a great way to see what's working. And don't worry if it's not all successful - trial and error and see what connects with your audience the best! ... I also mentioned last week about checking your insights as it gives you an indication of how successful your content is and will guide you in what your audience wants! My number one tip when creating your content? Make your audience FEEL something when they look at it. Connecting with them on an emotional level will resonate far more than shouting sales pitches at them! Enjoy your day & happy brainstorming!
03.01.2022 Creating content is the fun part... especially when you get to eat it after! I made these caramel protein balls for a fitness client on the weekend so we can post the recipe on her socials. Fun, effective and delicious! Can't find the time to create content? You know where I am!
03.01.2022 Playing around a mood boards for a new brand specialising in excavation and plants Bold and strong is the thinking behind the font and colour choices Still a work in progress, but a great brand to work with!
02.01.2022 Here it is - THE TIME SAVER! So Ive been talking about how time consuming and hard it can be to get your social media looking great and engaging. Theres a lot of information out there, but unless you have to time to dedicate to learn it and implement it, it can be difficult to get traction. ... I also understand that many businesses may not be able to justify or afford a social media manager. Ive been working on a package that might help you and that is where we share the social media responsibilities. I do this for other clients and it works very well. This is how it works After the initial consulting, I build a content calendar Together we work out what you are comfortable with and what part of the workload you need help with. For example, for one of my clients, I do all the posts (visuals, captions & posting) and she does the stories plus answers all comments and messages. We find that it keeps her active in her social media and still adds the human touch...but makes her life a lot easier! If this is something youre interested in, please send me a DM and we can chat to see what will work for you!
02.01.2022 Go on - Engage me! Social media engagement is when someone is interacting with your brand. This can be in the form of Likes Comments... Follows Shares Saves Click-throughs Follows and likes are what a lot of businesses get caught up on but the real measure of success first and foremost should be saves, shares & comments. This is when you know people are really interested in what you have to say which builds brand awareness, strengthens customer relationships and eventually, customer loyalty. So how do you get to that point? There are a series of things you need to do: Know your target audience Create interesting content consistently Respond and engage with your audience Nurture your leads If you struggle to find the time and the creativity to get your social media going, drop me a DM. I offer a package that allows you to share your social media workload with me so basically you do some and I do some! Its a much more cost effective and efficient way of getting it done! Let me know if youre keen!
02.01.2022 TIME SAVER! FILING... Such a boring topic, but geez, if you dont have it right it can cause a few headaches! Yesterday I spoke about how I believe systems are vital in any business and filing for me is a big part. I know where everything is and if someone asks me for a file it saves so much time by going directly to the source!... My graphic shown here is how I structure my folders when I do a design job. Call me OCD, but it does my head in if everything is just chucked onto one folder with no structure! This is just one way I like to streamline my processes to make sure Im efficient with my time! Do you think filing is important?
02.01.2022 I heard the beautiful Megan Gale say this on a podcast about a year ago and it's stayed with me ever since A few years ago I was made redundant through no fault of my own - there simply wasn't enough work coming through the door to warrant me being there. I was only there for 8 months, after leaving my very secure job of 12 years. Plus it was 2 weeks out from Christmas, so not the most ideal timing. Of course there were times where I regretted leaving my old job and felt ...a bit hard done-by. But that didn't get me anywhere. Cue the exhale! This is where I had to re-evaluate where I wanted to go with my career and after a lot of thought, I decided to further my skills and head down the digital marketing path.. and I don't regret a thing. Oh - and I also started working at a cellar door which has taught me a whole new skill set! I guess everything happens for a reason - sometimes you just don't know it yet. I understand it's not this simple for some - but I do believe that keeping an open mind is essential to getting through tough times. And lots of inhaling and exhaling! Sending positive vibes to anyone that needs it!
01.01.2022 Good reminder to make sure your email databases and policies are up to date!
01.01.2022 How was your week? Tell me using only an emoji! I'll start... Happy Friday everyone!!
01.01.2022 What are you doing tonight? Spending it with your family or trying to come up with great and consistent content on your business social media? I get it - it can take a lot of time to get your social media not only looking great, but also connecting with your audience and posting regularly! Time that you could be spending on other parts of your business OR hanging out with your loved ones!... Want to know how I can start saving you time AND get your social media looking good?
