25.01.2022 Place of the day! Built in 1881 by Henry Rymill this impressive mansion has been put through its paces and after much hard work by the current owners, it is now restored. The interior of Rymill House is significant for the remarkable diversity of its ornamentation and detailing a feature of the Queen Anne style.... Rymill House is located on East Terrace and remains the most outstanding example of the mansions in that area. 22.01.2022 #TourTuesday High on the Hill, Come and view some of Adelaide's earliest residential buildings, all located in beautiful North Adelaide.... Some of the sites include, Brougham House which was erected in 1881 and is now part of Lincoln College of The University of Adelaide, as well as Taylor House, built around 1908-09. Other sites include St Margarets, built in the 1890s. Because most of the buildings are privately owned or businesses they are not open for public viewing, however if you're in the neighbourhood why not take a peek? Prince Phillip also attended the event, making a short speech, "I declare that this ship is now going to be called City of Adelaide, I hope she has a long and successful career in her reincarnation" ... The Museum of Economic Botany, established in the late 1870's and officially opening in 1880, this building has been described as the 'last purpose built colonial museum in the world'. Located on the corner of Rundle Street and Pulteney Street in the city, the hotel was demolished in the 70's and a carpark built in its place. ... This building was the only example of giant high Victorian style that Adelaide possessed.

07.01.2022 Place of the day! The first Anglican church built in South Australia and one of the oldest buildings in the City of Adelaide. Constructed in 1838 with the first baptismal service occurring that July! ... The picture below is of the church in 1845, how incredible! The church building is open for viewing during office hours and guided tours are available at various times throughout the year, for example, during SA Heritage Week, or can be organised on request for school groups, tourists or other interested parties. 06.01.2022 The City of Adelaide is coming home! After a long 14 year debate, the worlds oldest surviving clipper ship the City of Adelaide finally left Scotland yesterday and begun the 20,000 kilometer journey to its original home in South Australia. More than six dozen organisations across nine countries came together to assist in building the cradle that saved the 147 year old clipper ship.... The City of Adelaide is the only surviving passenger and cargo ship of that time and holds significant historical value for South Australia. Once arriving back in Australia the final stop will be in Port Adelaide, where the City of Adelaide will remain as a tourist attraction. Built in 1889-90, and funded by a group of Afghan and North Indian camel drivers, the Adelaide Mosque is one of the few nineteenth century relics representing the Afghan immigration to South Australia and the oldest city mosque in Australia. The Beehive Corner Building, which is also home to Haighs Chocolate, was built in 1897 and has become a prominent meeting place for the people of Adelaide. ...
