17.01.2022 Make sure to head to FELTspace next Thursday and check out their November Exhibitions featuring graduate Tom Maguire in the Front Gallery! Tom Maguire’s show 'We Didn't Expect It Would Be So Beautiful' is initially inspired by the experience of travel and lived adventure. Working in response to both direct experience and with references to details of the remote Australian bush or uninhabited architecture, Maguire’s process begins with enlarging selected sections of photograp...hs taken or collected during these times. Pieced together with squares of blue masking tape, this process is repeated several times, resulting in different formal arrangements to develop new series of collages that evoke a sense of memory and place. Photocopying, cutting, and sticking back together is part of the physical process of further abstracting the original or existing environment that the viewer is then free to piece together or re-interpret as a new space. As with fragmented memories, these new compositional spaces provide reference materials for paintings on boards that are often unconventional in shape and format. In this way, the practice of painting itself begins to crossover into sculpture. His work will be shown alongside artist Ophelia Bakowski whose work ‘May All Acts Of Love And Pleasure Be My Rituals’ will be showing for FELTDARK. We can't wait

16.01.2022 Honours graduate Ash Tower is showing new work in 'The Burning of Vision', a solo show at Floating Goose Studios Inc.. The Burning of Vision is an exhibition of artefacts at the intersection of Baroque architecture and tabletop gaming. By employing materials and techniques of model-making for games, the exhibition undermines the typically opulent and excessive Western architectural style. The material practices of cardboard modelling, plaster casting, and miniature painting disarm the ‘monumental’ Baroque; leaving its essential motifs of repetition, scale and escapism. 'The Burning of Vision' opens Friday March 5 at 6pm. Visit the link below for more information.
