24.01.2022 This Friday the Appeal decision will be happening... please pray for breakthrough...

24.01.2022 We had an amazing time in worship today! The local musicians were great plus we had the bonus of Grant and Beverley visiting, singing and sharing, Baba and Rat...u singing and sharing, Debra and the action song team sharing two songs and various other highlights. Thank you to everyone who contributed. We have many folk who we are praying for regarding serious health and other issues... Nelson is selling his new book of 25 songs he has written - "Gift of Music" for $30 plus postage.

23.01.2022 Some of us went to the APICC (Aboriginal Pacific Islander Christian Community) Gathering at Westbourne Park Community Centre on Sunday afternoon/evening. It was great to get together with so many friends from other Aboriginal and Pacific Islander Churches. A small group from our church sang - beautifully! So did groups from a range of churches across the Pacific. Chris Brohier spoke a little about some of the issues he is working with. Please keep him in prayer, and seek... the Lord for guidance about what you can do. Pastor Roland from the Samoan Church preached a good sermon. The music and words were wonderful! The food was superlative! Well done catering team! A great time!

21.01.2022 A tearful farewell till we meet again.

21.01.2022 Wonderful singing. This coming week Nelson is heading off on a tour up north all the way to Darwin, and Iwiri are going to Uluru. We prayed for God's blessing on both ventures. Iwiri had a choir practise after the service.

20.01.2022 Action songs are a beautiful expression of worship common in Indigenous churches and communities. We are blessed to often enjoy them as part of our morning chapel services. , Pictured: Cert II Bible Overview students sharing to the song 'Holy Spirit'.

17.01.2022 Tonight there was a gathering to call for an End to Deaths in Custody. People gathered for a vigil outside Yatala Labour Prison with family members who have lost loved ones in custody. Family of Wayne Fella Morrison, Uncle Kevin Buzzacott, Wayakka Donna Abdulla, Charlie Wilson and other committed folk gathered. Latoya spoke about the horror of her brother's death. His mum also spoke. So sad. We still await the Coroner's Report and the findings of the Standing Committee Inq...uiry into Administration of Prisons. Wayakka, Uncle Kevin and others also shared. There was a time of silence as we remembered the sadness, suffering and loss of people all around Australia. We thought of their families. We spoke out against the injustice and grief. Last week's death of 22 year old Tane Chatfield was lamented. We spoke in support of Dylan Voller and his mother who were arrested at the protest in Alice Springs today. It was good to see some folk from Congress and the Uniting Church at this vigil. #justiceforfella #stopblackdeathsincustody #stoppolicebrutality #justiceforTane #justiceforallprisoners

16.01.2022 TACL held a special morning tea gathering at Uniting College on Friday. We acknowledged NAIDOC, gathered to catch up and to celebrate Pastor Nelson Varcoe having published a book of songs written by him entitled "Gift of Music", Gowan and Donald shared a little about TACL's ministry and we heard from Auntie Amelia Campbell, Rev Mark Kickett and had a cuppa and some good time together. Nelson sang four of his songs during the gathering including Have You Ever?, Blessed Is T...he Man, Hallelujah and Out In The Boat. Rich and deep songs! TACL encourages folk to buy Nelson's book and CD (price $30). TACL was delighted to have a number of new folk attend! There were people from the Lutheran Church, Aboriginal Berean Community Church, Catholic Church, Bible Society, Salvation Army, Seventh Day Adventists, Uniting Church, Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress, and Anglican Church. It was great to have Yanyi Baker from the Northern Regional Council of Congress and Pastor Jack Harradine who ministers in Broken Hill with us too. We continue to seek to support Aboriginal Christian leaders in prayer and in their continuing development as leaders. We continue to be deeply challenged and immensely inspired by the experiences and stories of Aboriginal communities, families and individuals as they address their situations with immense hope and inspiring faith. We thank God for their learnings and their witness. Please continue to pray for First nation people and their leaders. Please continue to pray for First nation Christian leaders. Please continue to pray for significant breakthroughs. A huge thank you to everyone who helped this event to happen.

10.01.2022 Our #NAIDOC2020 celebrations were in full swing last night at Nungalinya as students and staff from many different nations shared culture and faith in song, dance, stories and even food!

10.01.2022 Central Land Council members and staff today joined family and friends of the late former CLC chair and long-standing council member Kunmanara Wilyuka to lay hi...m to rest in his home community of Titjikala. The former stockman, builder, teacher and pastor had a talent for bringing people together. It was little wonder, then, that he developed a great passion for our cutting-edge community development program which aims to unite and empower people. Right from the start, Kunmanara advocated for the program across the southern half of the Northern Territory and supported it both as chair in 2012/13 and in the years since. Only last year, he encouraged his countrymen and women to invest their mining and exploration income for community-driven projects to help improve the lives of their families. His failing health did not dampen his enthusiastic support of groups in Titijikala and across the region that use their collective income from land use agreements to plan, implement and monitor their own projects. He helped one group of traditional owners to establish and develop their outstation with the rent they receive from a jointly managed conservation reserve and backed projects that support Titjikala’s youngsters through school excursions and sports facility upgrades. He was pleased that his community decided to use the same compensation income that funded the youth projects to also support the mighty Titjikala Hawks. Kunmanara truly looked out for all sections of his community. He was an inclusive, politically savvy and persuasive leader who could be relied on to find the right words at the right time. These qualities shone when things got a bit heated during the historic meeting about constitutional reform in May 2017 at Yulara, which he attended as a member of the Sacred Sites Authority. At a critical moment during the last meeting day, Kunmanara took the microphone and calmly laid out in front of 350 delegates from across the nation his cultural perspective on the contested concept of sovereignty. His well-chosen words settled the meeting down when it really counted and the resulting consensus the Uluru Statement from the Heart - owes much to his composed, authoritative and timely intervention. After the unanimous endorsement of the statement, Kunmanara wrapped up the meeting with heartfelt thanks to the delegates. You have come here and supported us in the NT with the declaration we’ve put up here for all of us. We had some ups and downs at this forum but as a Pitjantjatjara Yangkunytjatjara man I feel so happy today that our brothers and sisters from all states and territories have come together as one. What better way to honour Kunmanara’s memory than to stay united? See more

10.01.2022 We have been planting tubes of various native plants over the last couple of years. A number of them were looking good and in flower this morning. I thought it was worth taking some shots. Most are still quite small plants but with a will to flower!

09.01.2022 We had a good time today in church. A bit of a late start. Amazing worship led by the Anangu women. We listened to a number of people share. We heard the story of Jesus' transfiguration. We shared in communion. A very uplifting time.

06.01.2022 David Osborne on solo, a challenging song for Anangu. These brave ladies, many are on dialisas and travelled 6 hrs round trip to Ernabella for treatment during their stay at Yulara. They love to share their mission choir heritage.

03.01.2022 40 years ago this agreement to introduce the Pitjantjatjara Land Rights Bill to the South Australian Parliament was signed by Premier David Tonkin, Kunmanara (K...awaki) Thompson (Chairman of the Pitjantjatjara Council) and Harold Allison (Minister of Aboriginal Affairs). The Pitjantjatjara Land Rights Act was passed in 1981 (and is now known as the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Land Rights Act 1981). This Act placed ownership, management and control of the Pitjantjatjara Lands into the hands of the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara people. This was the first Act of its kind in Australia. 03.01.2022 On Sunday we had a really good worship time. We had Mark, Jorda and Sean visiting from Congress Regional Council for part of the service. The woman sang beautifully. We especially enjoyed their singing of the Blessing Song. Mark shared a little about the process our congregation will be involved in as they seek a new ministry arrangement with Dean leaving.... Mark also led us in a song. Jordan also played guitar accompanying a song. A number of women shared. Dean read the Bible and preached. This was followed by communion. It was a good time.
