25.01.2022 Today we were to have marked the leaving of the Bishop's Court with garden parties and ceremonies celebrating the building's long place at the heart of Adelaide Anglicanism, but we were thwarted by COVID-19 restrictions. However, you can see Archbishop Geoff giving thanks for the ministry of the chapel on the Diocesan website. We will be preparing a longer audio-visual tribute to the historic residence in the days to come. https://adelaideanglicans.com//thanksgiving-for-the-minis/

25.01.2022 Due to the Covid-19 crisis, AnglicareSA has had to cancel its annual banquet that would've been held this week. A great disappointment. But let's not forget the purpose of the event to raise money for the vital work the agency does for the disadvantaged ion our state. Please take this opportunity to support that mission by following the link here. https://anglicaresa.com.au//cathedral-banquet-2020-import/

23.01.2022 The Anglican Church has spent the past year researching violence in church in an attempt to understand why this takes place in our Christian communities and to find ways of preventing and addressing it. The research project is now in its final stage and the church is inviting those who have had an experience of domestic violence and a current or previous link with the Anglican Church to take part. https://adelaideanglicans.com//tackling-the-other-pandemic/

21.01.2022 Congratulations to Grace Tame being made Australian of the Year. As this brave young woman says, "When you are able to find your voice and then use it for the greater good, I mean, that's the ultimate." It is another marker of how the world is changing as we, both individuals and institutions, learn the lessons from past mistakes. The major lesson, of course, for the Anglican Church and everyone else is that we must listen to voices like Grace's. https://www.abc.net.au//grace-tame-australian-of-/13091556

17.01.2022 We've just heard that John Denton died on Thursday 13th August at his home in the Newcastle diocese. John became the first full time General Secretary of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Australia in 1978, a position he held until retirement in 1994. The portrait below from the National Library of Australia was photographed by Andrew Long in 1996. The Rt Rev’d Dr Peter Stuart, Bishop of Newcastle tells us that John’s funeral will be held in the Hillside Chapel at ...Palmdale Memorial Park on Tuesday 25th August at 11.30am. "I will be there and I have planned to be able to attend. I met John a few times and each time he was generous and engaging," Bishop Peter says. "Our prayers are with John’s wife Shirley, their children Louise, Heather, Andrew and James and their families." John was made an Officer in the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1977. He had a long career in missionary work and in administration of the Anglican Church. His vocation took him to Africa in the 1950s, an experience which served him well in his long-time role on the Board of World Vision, Australia. After returning to Australia, John was appointed Registrar of the Diocese of Sydney before taking the General Synod role in 1978. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2005 for service to the Anglican Church of Australia and to the international community through the programs of World Vision. See more

01.01.2022 "I know many people who believe in God’s mercy in Christ but find it difficult to connect this faith with the ecological world,. but it feels like a giant seismic shift to rearrange the faith furniture in their head to see that all creatures are embraced by God’s mercy," theologian Elizabeth A. Ecology will this week be central to the Company of Preachers' third event in a series of four designed to assist clergy in their vocati...on of preaching.
