24.01.2022 Algae will out-compete plants. Scientific fact. What plants do instead ,is to provide coverage of the surface, thereby blocking sunlight from reaching the algae. In this way, they do reduce the prevalence of algae.

21.01.2022 Very large amazon frogbit plants will be available once I have removed all of the very tiny baby goldfish! Proves that Goldfish love to lay their eggs in the roots of this plant, and also it provides a haven for their babies. So many advantages with these plants. One plant measure approx 15cm across! Free floating, oxygenating, gives shade and protection, filtering qualities and also pretty and has tiny delicate flowers on a stem.
19.01.2022 UPDATE. Social distancing rules must be followed and please don't bring the whole family. A time must be arranged, as I will only have one person at a time. Thanks for your understanding and stay safe. If you want to order for Mothers Day, please let me know, so I can have some ready to collect. Water lilies are at the end of their growing season, so not many are in flower.

16.01.2022 Small Black Bugs on My Water Lilies Water Lily Aphid Water lily aphids (Rhopalosiphum nymphae) actually spend most of their lives on plants other than water lily. In Mediterranean climates, the tiny, pear-shaped pests develop wings and migrate to lily pads in mid- to late summer. They feed by draining sap from the pads, and they give birth to as many as 50 live offspring apiece. Their nymphs mature and start giving birth to their own live young in one week to 10 days. Entire ...aphid colonies occasionally migrate underwater to feed, breathing air trapped by the tiny hairs covering their bodies. In late fall, the final generation develops wings and migrates to winter hosts -- usually stone-fruit trees -- to lay eggs in bark crevices. Those winter-host plants support the spring-hatched generation and their young until they migrate to water lilies or other aquatic plants. From Brown to Black Water lily aphids' brown spring and early-summer coloration changes to black when they grow wings for migration. If stone-fruit trees grow near your water lilies, then examine the trees in spring for colonies of reddish-brown aphids on the undersides of their leaves and stems. A tell-tale sign of the aphids’ presence is their clear, sticky waste, or honeydew. Cultural Management Managing an infestation of water lily aphids culturally eliminates the need for insecticides harmful to the plants and animals in and around your water garden. Chemical insecticides kill aphids as well as aphid predators, such as ladybugs and lacewings. If your water garden contains fish, then turn the aphids into a snack for them by knocking aphids from plants into the water garden with a strong blast of water from a hose. Another eco-friendly control method is to place sheets of newspaper on top of the lily pads, trapping and drowning the aphids.
13.01.2022 Water iris colours available, but none in flower.
07.01.2022 If you only have a shallow pond, I can repot into a shallower dish, but I need to know in advance. If you only have a shallow pond, I can repot into a shallower dish, but I need to know in advance.
03.01.2022 I have found that on these really hot days over 100 degrees, my water lily flowers are burning. I recommend on these days to shade your pond. If not naturally, then use an umbrella . I don't think water lilies or humans should endure this heat ,ever. Make sure your ponds are aerated during this time too for your fish to survive. Oxygen levels are reduced with sun light. Use an air pump temporarily if needed.
