25.01.2022 Mike Bai, 20 years old .... First Solo in the SportStar "I am studying Architecture Design to become an Architect in Adelaide from Shandong Province, China. I have always wanted to fly and my dream has been to become a Pilot.... Flying my First Solo .... a dream come true, it has been a dream for 15 years. I was a little bit nervous, but it felt amazing! I want to do more!" Now, there is more to this story .... Mike lives in the centre of Adelaide. He books his flying lesson near lunchtime so that he has time to make the journey as he doesn't have a car. He gets on a train to Seaford that takes 40 mins, then he catches a UBER to Adelaide Biplanes .... He really wants to fly!!

21.01.2022 Josh Hooper and his friends spent the morning at the beach off Moana marking out a message in the sand. Later that day he flew with his girlfriend Caitlin Noble hip to hip in the front open cockpit of the big radial engined Waco biplane. There down on the beach was the question picked out in stones from the beach laid that morning ..... Will You Marry Me ??... We were all peaking out when the Waco pulled up .... YES!! IT'S A YES!!

17.01.2022 Stephen Howlett .... First Solo in the SportStar "I used to fly gliders when I was 17/18 years old at the Harare Gliding Club, Zimbabwe. Then I didn't do anything until this year! We migrated here to Adelaide in 2001, looking for a better future for my family.... I decided that as I was turning 50 this year, I was going to stop making excuses and pursue my passion! Going solo .... I's a great feeling to have that level of trust from an Instructor .... It's awesome! I'll aim towards my RPL and we'll see where to from there!"

16.01.2022 Biplanes in Formation .... 1940's vintage, Boeing Stearman biplanes fly together along the southern beaches of the McLaren Vale wine region .... It always brings a smile

14.01.2022 Francis Ben .... First Solo in the SportStar "This has been a childhood dream! I come from a family of aviators, 2 of my brothers are Pilots, Military and Commercial. I trained as a Civil Engineer and now lecture at The University of Adelaide and Tabor College. I came to Adelaide 16 years ago as a PHD Scholar and it was at that time I joined The Adelaide Gliding Club, but work and life took over and I didn't fly again until I started flying at Adelaide Biplanes.... My First Solo? It was nerve wracking .... It felt like I was dreaming! Landing, my legs were so wobbly ... I still cannot believe it !!"

14.01.2022 Igor Popov .... First Solo in the tailwheel Aeronca Champ .... "I've always wanted to learn to fly. About 5 years ago I was given a Gift Voucher for a Trial Instructional Flight in the SportStar, but at the time I wasn't in a position to begin learning. Now I'm established in my career as a Management Consultant Auditer. I have the opportunity to learn and it certainly helps to have a supportive wife!... I was fairly relaxed and I really loved going solo? I am heading for my Recreational Pilot Certificate .... definitely!! "

13.01.2022 Andrew McGavigan .... New Recreational Pilot Certificate "This feels fantastic!! I have a big sense of accomplishment, I am nervous of the reins coming off but looking forward to practicing over the next few weeks. Next for me is Navigation and Controlled Airspace. My aim is to be able to fly around the country!!"

13.01.2022 Pete Koop .... New Recreational Pilot Certificate "I have been working and saving for my lessons and Mum, Dad and Aunt Tracy have been helping as well. I want to try and join The Australian Air Force eventually, but first I want to go to The University of Adelaide to study for an Aerospace Engineering Degree." 17 years old .... Good job!!

12.01.2022 Kingsley Storer .... New Private Pilot Licence "I studied anaesthesiology at Cornell in New York and then we came back to Australia in 2018 to be closer to family. I started learning to fly because I love being up in the sky and I also wanted to be able to fly to places that are hard to get to! For now, I want to get comfortable flying on my own and then take family on scenic flights around the area"

09.01.2022 Maddy Hall .... First Solo in the Sport Cub "I thought I'd begin to learn, probably from the safety perspective as I fly with Stuart. It was probably after the first lesson with Jack that it changed ....I came away excited about flying and I wanted to do it for myself!... Going solo, I had a few nerves, it feels completely different, I had a lot more adrenalin, you know you can do it .... and then a sense of relief! Next, more flying and getting out of the circuit. I am aiming to be able to fly Stu's aeroplane!! "

09.01.2022 Ruby Blagrove .... First Solo in the Champ "I went flying with a family friend and fell in love with flying, maybe I was about 8 years old. I started thinking that I wanted to be a Pilot. I was successful in my application to become a Cadet with Cobham Aviation and had started Ground School in January this year. By mid March, all trainin g had been suspended due to COVID-19.... For my own sake, I couldn't bear not to fly and I rang and asked what I should do and how could I be the best pilot. The answer .... TAILWHEEL .... My First Solo was in the tailwheel 1946 Aeronca Champ. Leo answered my call and it was Leo that sent me solo."

08.01.2022 Paul Moustrides .... A gift from Emily "After flying in the Boeing Stearman with Martyn, Paul's comment was .... "Want one, Want one!! It was B.............. Awesome!! I felt comfortable flying her very quickly." Paul came to us for his Tailwheel flight training and now flies as an Ag Pilot for Southern Air at Naracoorte and as a Fire Bomber Pilot in the summer for Aero Tech for the Southern region.

04.01.2022 Tom Kenyon .... First Solo in the SportStar "I am flying because I ALWAYS wanted to .... I loved planes, I wanted to join the Air Force and never did! I went into Politics and now spend my time commercialising research and innovation, we take research and turn it into companies.... I travel a fair bit and would love to fly there. Going solo? I was actually pretty calm about it, I flew as I always did, but I was in the plane by myself! I can't wait to do it again!!"
