01.01.2022 The AIF Section in the historical West Terrace Cemetery was established in 1920, the first dedicated military cemetery in Australia. It is now the final resting place for 3,167 service men and women. Over the decades the AIF Section has been a regular destination for those wishing to commemorate our fallen service men and women on this special day. The Kibby Garden, at Enfield Memorial Park is also the final resting place of many fallen soldiers who served our country. Wreaths have been laid in both of these locations this morning by dedicated Adelaide Cemeteries staff members. Although COVID-19 restrictions have had some effect on how Australians are able to commemorate ANZAC Day in 2020, this morning we have also lowered the flag at the Cross of Sacrifice to show our respect and thanks for those who have served their country.
