25.01.2022 Ephemeral art is a work of art that only occurs once, like a happening. Once created, it is left to the elements of nature, fated to be scattered by the wind, drifting away over time. Much like our lived experience of the present moment, it cannot be embodied in any lasting object like other art forms. In one of Today’s EAP sessions - my client gathered some things that had some interesting sensory qualities. she then made a little ephemeral art piece to symbolise the present moment awareness she had learned from the horses. As she arranged her piece, three horses from the herd came to see her art in a beautiful moment of equine witnessing. #equineassistedpsychotherapy #arttherapy #ephemeralart #adelaidehills #hahndorf #ndisprovider

23.01.2022 Great article highlighting some credible research from the UK, confirming what we knew already... https://www.bustle.com/p/do-horses-like-humans-a-new-study-

21.01.2022 It’s kind of hard to remember those 40*C days when the grass glistens like diamond dust on these cold mornings. Here’s a flashback to December - I never get sick of watching Trapper slurp his rainbows! Hope this warms your hearts

20.01.2022 Horses are herd animals, preferring to be together. Mitch has just realised here that the back gate was open, allowing him to get closer to his herd mates. With his nervous system in fight mode he vocalises his challenge with a squeal while galloping down the lane to meet Trapper. The other horses are already in response mode as they listen to his approach, heads up, ears and eyes focused, wandering over to see what all the fuss is about. We also hear Mitch letting out a couple of big blowing sounds as he discharges the stressful energy. #adelaideequinetherapy #adelaidehills #horsesofinstagram #equineassistedpsychotherapy #herdbehavior

20.01.2022 My clients often tell me how simply being outdoors with the horses has a positive affect on their mood. This is a great read that explains why.

19.01.2022 Another perfect day for arts and Equine-assisted Psychotherapy sessions in the Adelaide Hills! #equineassistedpsychotherapy #hahndorf #adelaideequinetherapy #adelaidearttherapy #artandequine #nature #wellbeing

12.01.2022 Horses who are healthy seek closeness with people, triggering the client’s opening to, yearning and want for closeness, affection and connection in a safe environment. This emotional safety and trust engages the client’s brain-body responses and begins new neural pathways, felt sense and body memories for safety in relationship. 11.01.2022 The equine behaviour ‘mutual grooming’ tells us a lot about the relationship between different horses in the herd. The horse seeks to form a 'pair bond' basically a buddy which it will allow within its personal space. While giving each horse a nice flood of feel good hormones, it also serves to reaffirm the bond between horses and reduce social tension within the group. Will and Trapper love to groom each other every day and little Roly is never far away either. This article explains it in much greater detail: https://equimed.com//mutual-grooming-in-horses-you-scratch

10.01.2022 Trapper enjoying the rugs off weather today.

02.01.2022 Yesterday was such a glorious day for equine therapy. My clients all commented on how soothed they felt by the environment. Warm sun on skin, gentle rustling of eucalyptus leaves, quiet grazing horses. For myself after the day’s work was done I enjoyed capturing some bird chatter, sunbeams and rainbow colours with Ellie #equineassistedpsychotherapy #adelaidehills #beauty #nature #hahndorf #adelaideequinetherapy
