25.01.2022 Steve and Rene catching a dose of Corona (beer!) with Stephanie and Natalie, after a long day after our second break in in two weeks. Photo taken on our security camera; Steve loves the camera today after three interviews for the local news.

22.01.2022 Covid-19 Update: 5 May 2020 We are practising with enhanced precautions to keep you and us as safe as possible from COVID-19, but we are now happy to receive our patients and customers back for routine eye care and optical sales. An important but temporary change to the practice is that we are minimising movement between branches of our optometrists and staff. This may mean that your preferred optometrist or frame and lens expert is not available at your preferred location fo...r the next few weeks, and it means that we are not currently open at Blackwood and Mawson Lakes on Mondays. Our optometrists are on reduced consulting hours, but we will increase the available consultation times as we return to normal over the next few weeks (if the virus allows!) Optometrists by Branch: Westbourne Park: Mr Rene Malingre & Ms Stephanie Mitris Blackwood: Mrs Dipika Mistry & Ms Elizabeth Capper (some Saturdays only) Mawson Lakes: Mr Rex Wallis, Ms Elizabeth Capper, Mrs Helen Keen, Mrs Lisa Royle & Mr Rene Malingre (some Saturdays only) Of course, if you have respiratory symptoms, fever or other symptoms that are suspicious for coronavirus, we ask that you do not come and see us until you are well. We are practising appropriate distancing, and only allow one other person apart from the optometrist and patient into the consulting room, and we have limits on how many people may be in each room of the practice. You will be asked to wash your hands with soap and water or use alcohol hand sanitiser when you arrive, and we will check your temperature with a non-contact forehead thermometer. For close-contact interactions, we protect against droplet spread through the use of a mask and/or a shield. We are cleaning all surfaces including instruments, door handles, light switches, pens, keyboards, desks, etc, etc with hospital-grade disinfectant between uses, and we wash our hands between every interaction (as we always do!) All the best, Rene Malingre

18.01.2022 The Blackwood team had a lovely surprise this morning when a longtime paitent came in for a surprise visit! A beautiful gesture of flowers for Steph and our favorite morning tea just to simply say thanks for caring for her and her family’s eye needs during a difficult year for all of us! We all felt very humble and enjoyed our Morning tea ...Vicki Connors cheers and many thanks !

16.01.2022 [Good vision for life] Good vision for life is an Optometry Australia initiative to drive awareness of eye health and the role optometrists play in general heal...th. We regularly create content for consumers and we encourage our members to share this via your own channels as you wish. As the world progressively accepts our new 'COVID normal' by wearing face masks, we look at ways to stop the pesky problem of fogging up your glasses while wearing them

16.01.2022 Wise words from Jen Rayner, who is incredibly passionate about helping people with chronic dry eye symptoms.
