06.01.2022 Check out this splint! This is a Muenster splint (or a modified Sugar Tong splint). It extends to the elbow to immobilise wrist supination / pronation, but you can see that it still allows quite a bit of mobility!

05.01.2022 Kathy and Belinda catch up every fortnight to discuss difficult cases and present new ideas. Making sure that we keep up with evidenced based practice and keep our innovative brains thinking. This week Kathy made a different design of splint. This splint is mainly dorsal based but because it has the volar bar, its strong enough to counteract the forces put through the palm. Great for volar wounds such as carpal tunnel or a ganglion removal, and super comfortable! #handtherapy #physics #innovation #splinting

04.01.2022 This week we were lucky to be invited for a work site assessment at the new Adelaide Casino / Sky City. We can confirm that the ergonomics of the casino and the wine at Sôl Bar & Restaurant score an A+

03.01.2022 Check out this exercise splint! It is a thermoplastic base around the hand with a coiled piece of wire fixed to the dorsum. The plastic bead is then thread from one end to the other! This splint is a proprioception exercise splint, designed to switch on ligaments for stability and improve joint position awareness. We have heaps of nifty ideas and designs that we custom make and can tailor to different injuries. For more info visit our website: www.adelaidehandtherapy.com

03.01.2022 This is a dynamic MCP extension splint was made for a lady who just had 3x extensor tendon transfers. The slings support the fingers with dynamic traction (rubber bands) so there is less tension put through her repairs and she is allowed to move to optimise tendon glide. She will be wearing this splint for 6-8 weeks full time. #handtherapy #OT #splinting #occupationaltherapy

01.01.2022 Belinda attended a course on the weekend about hand trauma! We had a veteran hand therapist from Melbourne video-in and also made the carpus out of plasticine. #handtherapy Australian Hand Therapy Association
