There is so much fabric in this hem, I’ve unpicked all of the horsehair, shortened the hem, replaced the horsehair and now the time has come to stitch it all back on. 07.01.2022 Asking questions is free and I’m always happy to help! So many times I’ve dealt with brides who were told in store that they could make large scale changes to their dress easily, only to find out when they talk to a seamstress that there’s actually a lot of work involved. It’s quite often the case with bridal, alterations are down played but they’re often very time consuming because of the way the dresses are constructed and factors like lace and beading. It’s very rare to get a dress that doesn’t at least need hemming, so if you’re buying off the rack or ordering in, remember to leave room in your dress budget for alterations. And hey, if you don’t end up needing all of it then you have a bit of extra cash up your sleeve for anything else that might pop up!
