24.01.2022 To understand why a biologically appropriate diet is best for your dog, you first need to understand how their digestive system works. ____ The process of dige...stion begins in the mouth. A canine has 42 teeth that are all sharp, made for scraping, slicing, and crushing. They have NO flat teeth. Their jaws are only able to move up and down. The food they eat will only be crunched up enough to swallow. If they swallow a piece that is too big, they might regurgitate it, crunch it up a few more times and try again. This is normal behavior. _____ Their saliva lacks the enzymes to start the breakdown of food. It’s used as a lubricant to coat the food and to help it go down the esophagus. The saliva is actually very alkaline, around 8 on the ph scale, which helps in preventing cavities. However, the saliva DOES contain antibacterial enzymes that eliminate bad bacteria. This is why after about 20 minutes or so, your dog should be rid of any harmful bacteria in its mouth. This is why they lick wounds to help heal them, and why they typically don’t get sick from eating some really nasty stuff. ______ When a dog eats too many fruits/grains/carbohydrates/vegetables and refined foods, it makes the saliva more acidic, increasing the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, bad breath, and other health problems. ______ *I AM NOT A CERTIFIED CANINE NUTRITIONIST* #raw #rawfed #rawfood #rawfeddog #rawfeddogs #rawfedgoldenretriever #rawfeeding #rawfeedingcommunity #rawfeedingmiami #perfectlyrawsome #dog #puppy #goldenretriever #instagood #healthy #alkaline #oralhealth #crunch #crunchnotchew #carnivore See more

23.01.2022 STUDY FINDS DOGS FED A HOMEMADE DIET LIVE 3 YEARS LONGER In a survey study out of Belgium, Dr. G Lippert and Bruno Sapy used data gathered from more than 500 d...omestic dogs over a consecutive five-year time period to statistically show that dogs fed a homemade diet, consisting of high-quality foods used from their owners’ meals versus dogs fed an industrial, commercial pet food diet had a life expectancy of 32 months longer (almost 3 years). Whilst other environmental factors such a vaccinations, worming, flea treatments and so forth will impact a dog's longevity, this is another study to add to the growing list to show a non-processed diet is best for dogs. Whilst this is not a clinical study that fed 500+ dogs the exact same meal, it's a survey study that records the diet of a dog over their life which is recorded when they present for cremation after they have passed away which gives us a unique insight into the lifespan of those dogs. Add this survey study to the other studies of different clinical presentations and we're still fighting the uphill battle to prove to dog lovers that a non-processed diet is best for their dog's and that for as long as kibble companies have been around there has been scaremongering by them to stop you from feeding your dog anything else. That scaremongering has sadly reached many Vets now given their nutritional education whilst studying to become a Vet is often sponsored by the Kibble companies. 22.01.2022 Cats and dogs are designed to eat meat, so feeding them a vegan or vegetarian diet will cause more harm than good, over time. Learn more about it here:

22.01.2022 I learn something everyday. This is an excellent article if you are mixing raw with dry food.

20.01.2022 "For the TV documentary on pet obesity in which I will be participating, I thought some of the pet owning contestants should see what their pet's food is actual...ly made of. Here, in order from greatest to least, is what it would actually look like if you made the food at home. (Propylene Glycol for those that don't know is aka Automotive RV winterizer or the blue dots in cheap blueberry muffins that are not real blueberries!) The moral of the story is: read your label and research your ingredients.! (boy do I have a ton of dishes to wash now!)" Credit: Rodney Habib

06.01.2022 LESSONS FROM THE OLDEST DOG IN THE WORLD Wow! What an interesting article! #aussiedog http://www.barkingbotanicals.com.au/lessons-from-the-oldes/

05.01.2022 I've seen quite a few older dogs (and cats) who have had a re-vaccination (that they nearly always didn't actually need), and died within a few weeks or months ...- they got unwell after the vaccine, then simply faded away. Why don't they need to be re-vaccinated???? This is because the C3 vaccines last at LEAST 5-7 years, often a lot longer. The science is in on this, it's been very well researched, AND that research has been duplicated by other scientists. Dr Ronald Schultz is the guru on this research. This is why you'll never see me use the word 'booster' in relation to vaccines, as it's very manipulative and innacurate. I found out there’s a lot of senior dogs out there that can’t handle the full regimen of vaccinations, she said. Titer test, always, never re-vaccinate without evidence that you need to. It could save your pet's life!

01.01.2022 According to immunologists, titer testing is a potential lifesaving test before the decision to vaccinate any pet! (Remember vaccines are hugely important, however over-vaccinating is reckless!)
