22.01.2022 This is the journey of a little Pigmentation Spot caused by cellular damage from the sun. I treated it with Dry Needling, which in turn made it appear worse. The spot grew in size and colour until it formed a scab, which then began to peel away leaving lighter and brighter skin underneath. The whole process took about 6 days. If this area is not protected from the sun in the future, the spot will rear it's ugly head again.. So it's super dooper important to slip slop slap after treatments, you want to protect your investment!

02.01.2022 Let's talk Pigmentation! This is caused by melanin, which causes a darker mark to show on the skin. It is the same process that happens for scarring, age spots, and pigmentation. Tyrosinase is the enzyme responsible for the first step in melanin production. It is part of a conversion process that creates the pigment (melanin) to be transported to the top layer of your skin resulting in a darkening of the skin. It is a defence mechanism against damage (inflammation, picking an...d UV rays to name a few) When cells have been damaged by inflammation, the Tyrosinase enzyme will send an excess of Tyrosine which will result in overproduction of pigment. The best way to control melanin production is with skincare products that contain Tyrosinase Inhibitors. In essence the darker the scar the longer it will take to fade, so if we can stop it from being darker from the start, then it is easier and quicker to fix. My favourite Tyronaise Inhibiting Products are SRA Brightening Day Cream, Pigment Punch by Aspect and mesoestetic mesoprotech melan 130 pigment control.
