24.01.2022 Today, the RBA announced a number of new recession-busting measures. The official cash rate will be cut for the first time since March from 0.25 per cent to a new record low of 0.1 per cent. Homeowners will need to wait and see if lenders pass on all or some of the rate cut. Today's policy package, together with the RBA's previous measures and the federal government's recent budget stimulus announcements demonstrate a commitment to support the creation of jobs and kickstart economic recovery. 14.01.2022 Today, the Reserve Bank announced the official cash rate would remain at 0.25 per cent. Despite a 7 per cent contraction of the Australian economy in the June quarter, the decline in output was smaller than expected. The improvement of labour market conditions over the past few months and expectations of a lower unemployment peak were also factors in the RBA's decision. That said, the road to economic recovery is expected to be bumpy and long. Follow link for full RBA statement: https://www.rba.gov.au/media-releases/2020/mr-20-24.html
