15.01.2022 #Scoliosis school based screening was ceased in Australia due to concerns about over-diagnosis and radiation exposure from unnecessary X-Rays in kids. Now with spinal ultrasound, EOS scanning (95% reduction in X-Ray radiation) and proof of the efficacy of bracing and #VBT non-fusion surgery I am a strong advocate for starting this again. Early detection and awareness now matters because treatment at smaller curve magnitude and earlier can avoid surgery or make minimally invas...ive non-fusion surgery possible. 07.01.2022 Grace was 14 years-old when she came to us with excessive thoracic kyphosis. We all have some degree of natural kyphosis and the usual range is 20-45 degrees. Her curve was 75 degrees and she was heading for major surgery, She was concerned about her appearance and had lower back pain. Through the expert team of @scolicareaus and @drmikeselby a 3D custom brace was made and an extension exercise program commenced. Now at 16 she had a normally shaped spine! #kyphosis #scoliosis #spine #bracing #exercisephysiology
