Training will commence on Thursdays 5.45pm for on the water at 6pm as well as Saturdays 8.45 am for on the water at 9.00 am. Keep an eye on your phones as will text message to confirm attendance on Thursdays and if weather is not suitable for being on the water. No messages will be sent for Saturday mornings as assume majority of members will attend this session. So great to be out on the water again and look forward to some great sessions.

19.01.2022 Well done to GenesisCare teams at Sunday's Corporate Cup event. 2nd in the Open and Mixed categories and 4th in the Women's events. Excellent results for limited amount of training due to staff heavy workloads! The weather was not very friendly, but all teams pushed through the windy weather to paddle long and strong. Phuong did an amazing job in organising the whole day for her workplace, with amazing salads to compliment the Lions club cooking the BBQ for us all. Thanks to our wonderful ASA team members for helping as needed.

14.01.2022 Was a fun day at the Volunteer Workshop Saturday 22nd Feb 2020. Was great to recap on much of the info. Extra great to see Sue from Mannum attending.

13.01.2022 Six ASA members heading over to the Hat Regatta at American River, KI tomorrow. So glad the event hasn't had to be cancelled as should be a fun day.
13.01.2022 Six team members no longer need to wear PFDs now as they took to the water on Saturday to do their 50 metre swim and 3 minutes treading water. Well done ladies!!
13.01.2022 CORRECTION: Thur (NOT Tue) and Sat when permission given to return to training, and weather conditions also. Sat mornings might be the best option given the time of the year, but Steve open to Thur if numbers permit as well.
12.01.2022 Weather so different on 2 different days this week at training - Tuesday water like ice and so calm, Thursday wind, some light rain and choppy. The challenges we face, but great fun. Thanks to those who came out on Tuesday as gave Jill the time to have some practice at being sweep - did very well - everyone contributed with great enthusiasm. Many thanks to for your cooperation with me as still doing my required coach sessions - so all round Tuesday was a great night.
12.01.2022 ASA's 15th birthday celebrations went down very well - great company, music and MC Peter Walsh. Thanks to Petra for organising a delicious birthday cake and taking control of the juke box, and also to Jo-Anne and all the helpers for decorating the boat. Was extra nice to have ex-members and some from other clubs join us. Marilyn from OTIS and her husband Peter made it, so thanks to them both as well. It was great just sailing away up the Port River leaving all behind. Calling on all who took photos to please post them on this page or email to Mary-Ann. Once again, many thanks and happy birthday ASA
11.01.2022 Wishing you a loving Christmas with family and friends
11.01.2022 Hi everyone, As noted below, training looks like it will be put on hold for a while longer yet given on 5 paddlers allowed in a boat if given the go ahead at this stage. Realise its not what we want to hear as I am sure there are many hanging out to get back into a boat. Steve is asking also for your thoughts re the below which would be appreciated. Shall be passing on all info as it comes to hand. So in the meantime, keep warm and fit hmmm not as easy as it sounds I ...personally am finding it sometimes difficult to get my legs working!! DBSA 6.1 Return to Sport status Noted this was discussed during Tuesdays Board meeting and that there has been a large amount of information received on this from various agencies, ORS&R, AusDBF, City of Charles Sturt Council. Even though conditions have changed over time with respect to training, given the 1.5 metres rule for social distancing it was anticipated this would only allow for 5 in a boat plus a Sweep. There were also other issues such as safe loading / unloading of boats on stacks with the reduced numbers and a reduced number of people allowed in sheds. Feedback was then sought from Clubs as to their expectations on returning to training. Noted some Clubs were keen to return as soon as practicable. The importance of protecting the Associations image with the residents and public was also a concern. The intent, when back up and running, is for Clubs to self-manage their training under parameters set by State or Federal Government and guidelines provided to them by DBSA. Discussion will be held further at Thursdays AusDBF quarterly Members meeting with other state bodies as to their approach to a return to the sport. The Board will then work with the ORS&R and Paddle SA with Clubs informed as soon as possible.
10.01.2022 Michael and I were part of the DBSA school event today - cold, windy and very choppy and high waves. Six schools involved - spent the morning training with aim for after lunch races, but due to weather conditions the arvo had to be cancelled. Thanks to Michael yet again joining me in being ASA's representatives for another DBSA event.
10.01.2022 OK, ASA - are you ready for our first 10s over 500 metre races this coming Sunday?? Let's just make it a fun day and treat it like another training session. We CAN do this!!!
10.01.2022 Christmas get-together for a BBQ at the Holts on Sunday, 29th November 2020. Partners also welcome. Check your emails for full details.
10.01.2022 What a great weekend. The Hat Regatta was a day of fun and frivolity enjoyed by all. That West Lakes wind though, followed us all the way to American River. Hopefully some of our members took some photos of the group to share, otherwise there are photos on the DBSA website. The meal on Saturday night was incredible - so much choice and the desserts!!! Don't think any of us could resist just one more..... The whole event was done with flair and creativity right down to t...he presentations. As one of KI members said, before the fires there were 2 separate communities on KI, now they are just one - all supporting each other. Our presence, along with other mainland clubs, was very much appreciated to make their first regatta such a success. We have really connected with the KI team and would be great to head over at some time for a training session with them - they would love that. On the ferry back consolidated friendship with Victor Dragons, a relationship we will reinstate in the not too distant future. Copper Coast team members shared their tents with us - with many not being aware that ASA was responsible with a grant for setting up their club. Thanks again to Judy, Sue O, Gloria and Claire for joining Steve and I for the event - we all left our money with local producers on the Island. The photos with us handling a snake was at a farmers' market - the skin of the snake is soooo soft. See more
10.01.2022 Steve has asked me to check in with everyone and hopes all are keeping well and safe, and also active. Take careSteve has asked me to check in with everyone and hopes all are keeping well and safe, and also active. Take care
08.01.2022 Sadly, all training still out and while yet. Miss being on the water with everyone, and also the catch-ups after training. xx
07.01.2022 ASA is hosting 3 GenesisCare teams this coming Sunday in the DBSA Corporate Cup event. Their 3 teams will consist of one team in each of the Mixed, Women's and Open categories with 10 paddlers in each team. Each team will include an ASA paddler, drummer and sweep. Phuong has been amazing in organising her fellow colleagues in getting involved, as well as organising the whole GenesisCare event including BBQ lunch by a local Lions branch and lots of family fun activities for paddlers' families and children. Fingers crossed the weather will be kind to the whole event this Sunday. Participation is ASA's mantra and our club is fortunate enough to have long-term members with a strong belief of supporting those who have, or are going through, the trauma of breast cancer. Go ASA and GenesisCare!!
05.01.2022 Getting ready for returning to training. Need your responses - when DBSA approve go ahead to return, those keen to train Tue and Sat or just Sat. Numbers please as by the looks of it only 10 paddlers allowed - or 10 in the boat - to be clarified. Looking at training in May and June if numbers allow.
05.01.2022 Thanks Michael for representing ASA in today's DBSA programme for kids.
03.01.2022 Training resumes on Sat 4th July at West Lakes - 9 amTraining resumes on Sat 4th July at West Lakes - 9 am
02.01.2022 From Steve - great effort considering less in the boat, windy weather and choppy waters - what a great intro to the long course for our new members. Was extra pleased to see majority of team head back to Michele's for pizza and drinks. Thanks to Michele and Lyn for offering us their home and also to Phuong and Cao-Cat for shouting our dinner.
02.01.2022 Many thanks to those who helped with DBSA working bees at Aquatic and the Sailing Club on the weekend just gone. Emails of thanks have been sent by ASA and DBSA. Don't have any photos of Aquatic but will include just a couple from the Sailing Club.
