20.01.2022 Stephanie Ziersch is the Director, Climate Change at the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources. Stephanie has worked in climate change policy at the state, national and international level for the past 10 years. One of her current projects involves working with a group of government, universities and the private sector to establish a national climate innovation initiative in Australia based on the successful model used by the European Union Climate Knowledge Innovation Community (Climate KIC).

Their innovative liquid organic waste from FOG - the fat, oil and grease produced by restaurants, businesses and supermarkets - has the potential to expand into commercial biodiesel production.
19.01.2022 Premier Jay Weatherill presented $100,000 to Enecon, which teamed up with the University of Adelaide, for its project proposal that once built, will replace fossil fuel sources and deliver energy security within the city boundary. Processing wood waste feedstock into pyrolysis oil at its source, eliminates the challenges of transporting energy. The fuel is then combusted in a high-efficiency trigeneration plant to deliver power at the point of consumption which will eliminate transmission losses.

15.01.2022 DAY 1: Adelaide to Zero Carbon Challenge Design Week kicked off this morning with Minister for the Environment, Ian Hunter MLC and Martin Haese - Lord Mayor of Adelaide welcoming our eleven Finalists teams in Adelaide and spoke about our globally unique partnership between the State Government and Adelaide City Council to achieve the goal of becoming the worlds first carbon neutral city. John OBrien provided an overview of the program of activities and introduced Finalists to their local mentors and advisors for Design Week. The afternoon saw the Finalists gain important communications and pitch training from leading Adelaide speaking coach David Griggs, The Speakers Studio.
