16.01.2022 While SA takes a moment to pause, we thought we’d post some moments from Adelaide Track League 1 and 2 you might have missed! This year with the advent of ATL we were keen to make sure the racing was not just fast-paced and energetic, but a bit out-of-left-field. Having non-championship events gave us the freedom to try out some race types you might not see every day, and see if they worked (or if they didn’t I’m looking at you, Snowball Points Race)! The Team Elimination... at ATL Rd II was a little different to the ones you might have seen at a Six Day, with both members of each team in the race racing to Eliminate the other team’s riders. This made for a seriously ruthless race as two smart bunch racers in Georgia Baker and Ella Sibley won the Women’s Elite race over young guns Sophie Edwards and Alex Martin-Wallace and local favourites Chloe Moran and Maeve Plouffe. The Men’s race almost finished in a double Match Sprint, with Conor Leahy and Sam Welsford locked in a duel with Josh Duffy and Leigh Howard for the last couple of laps that nearly came to a standstill. The Welsford/Leahy duo proved too strong in the end for Duffy and Howard! We are excited about some yet-to-be-released news for the new year though, so it shouldn't be too long before you get to head back out to the Adelaide Superdrome to see the country's best take to the boards! Apologies to those who were dead keen on getting out to the 'drome for some track racing! Those who have already purchased tickets through Eventbrite will be refunded.
