20.01.2022 This Tuesday (August 15th) we celebrate the Assumption of Mary, where the Virgin Mary was assumed, body and soul, into heaven at the end of her earthly life. The Assumption of Mary is a holy day of obligation, as such all Catholics are required to attend Mass to celebrate the feast day (in Australia, other such days are Christmas and every Sunday).

08.01.2022 Those in a state of mortal sin cannot receive Communion. If in such a state, going to confession will absolve these sins - allowing you to obtain God's forgiveness and thus receive Communion again. The Priest has the ability to forgive sins in the 'person of Christ', an authority granted to the apostles by Christ (John 20:23) and passed down through apostolic succession.
