13.01.2022 It is only two days away from meeting our choristers for the Adelaide Hills Youth Choir! We believe that auditions are a worthwhile and important process of be...ing in a choir, instilling a need for preparation and practice, but in our inaugural year all young people who audition will become a part of the Adelaide Hills Youth Choir. Auditions are this Wednesday from 4pm, you can book via this link www.trybooking.com/BHBXZ. If you can't make it this week then please contact us to make a time on any Wednesday afternoon so we can carry out this process. All other enquiries please email [email protected].

04.01.2022 The etymology of the word rehearsal is perhaps surprising. I had always thought it came from re-hearing something, but it's more profound than that. 'Re' is aga...in, but the middle syllable, hears, comes from the Old French 'hercier', to rake or harrow, which itself comes the Old French word for plough or harrow, herce. A harrow is used to break up clods of earth, to rake over the soil, pull up weeds and cover the new seed. So, when we re-hearse, we are digging up and turning over our music, pulling out the weeds of poor phrasing or intonation or ensemble, and preparing the soil of the sound to create a perfect place for sowing seed. When we rehearse, we are bringing our combined energy and imagination to one point. In the best rehearsal, we are sowing seeds for the growth of a deep-rooted performance, a performance which will stand the test of time.

03.01.2022 Great first night back with only 18 people appropriately distanced, next week we can have up to 45 people spread across the room! 01.01.2022 It is so wonderful being back at choir with Emma Knights and Michelle Nightingale. Of course following the four Ss - small numbers, seated, sanisitised, safe distanced singing. At our location at the Bridgewater Uniting Church, all aspiring singers are welcome on a Wednesday evening between 7pm-8:30pm. The acoustics are brilliant, the company is delightful and the music styles vary.
