25.01.2022 We’ve got a new date for Adelong, folks Our Winter Bites Festival in Adelong (planned for Saturday 17th July) is now going ahead on Saturday 21st August. We k...now you may be disappointed, but we also know you'll be completely understanding of the need to postpone in order to prioritise the health and safety of all involved including our event-goers and the wider Snowy Valleys and NSW community. With a number of restrictions impacting the event including our artists, vendors and ticket holders, we’ve decided this is the best course of action so we can provide a safe, enjoyable event for everyone. Tickets are automatically valid for this new date, and you do not need to take any further action if you are able to attend the event. Should you no longer be able to attend the event, you have the option to request a refund prior to 21st July 2021 by logging into your Moshtix Account and clicking on Manage Tickets to view and select the Request Refund option. If you created your booking as a Guest, you can Sign Up to register and access your tickets using the same email address that was used for the booking. The refund process is taking slightly longer than usual for Moshtix due to the unprecedented number of events rescheduling so please be patient. If you’re keen to join us next month, get keen ‘cause Kasey Chambers will still be our headliner, and it's still a 2-in-1 event with our friends at Adelong Meat Up who'll be holding a smoking BBQ event as part of the festival! There *may* be some changes to the rest of our line-up, but stay with us as we lock in all the details for our new date and we’ll keep you posted. You can grab tickets for our new date on Saturday 21st August right here: https://moshtix.com.au//winter-bites-festival-adel/128123 Hope to see you in Adelong next month, folks in the meantime be sure to mask up, wash your hands and follow restrictions

25.01.2022 Community health workers at Adelong Community Center today.

24.01.2022 We have welcomed Blazeaid to our showground. They are likely to be here for several months. They will be helping our farmers rebuild their fences. While they are here they will need our help cooking dinner of a night Nothing fancy 5 veg & meat plus a desert. We will also need help with slices & biscuits. If you can help in anyway please contact me. Also need any catering equipment. If you have some we could borrow that would be great. We will do a roster of who can help so you will only be needed once a week. If we get enough people.

20.01.2022 If you're wondering about what's happening with Winter Bites Festival in Adelong on Saturday 17 July, here's the post for you It's a little bit of a wait-and-...see situation at this point, but you should know: a] Our intention is to proceed at this point in time, but keep in mind things can change b] We've planned the entire festival with the knowledge that restrictions can change at any time, so we've got plans in place and are a CovidSafe event c] We're closely following all updates to health advice and restrictions - we're in regional NSW so you find rules that apply to us on the NSW Government website: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19 d] We'll provide further updates closer to the event, but as we mentioned, our intention is to proceed so for now our social content and posts will reflect that Rest assured, we're committed to providing a safe experience for festival-goers and the wider Snowy Valleys community, and we appreciate your patience as the event date approaches. Stay tuned for more

17.01.2022 New earthwork coming along nicely!! Soon we’ll have a lovely new oval and new cricket nets!

15.01.2022 Adelong showground management committee cooking for blaze aid Monday night. Well done crew.

10.01.2022 Evening all. Tracey Manning here. For those that don’t know me I used to run the Adelong Cafe before Rick took over and started the Gold Rush Cafe. Along with Annette Alderson who is a chef by trade and Di Gorman we are coordinating the kitchen for Blazeaide at the Adelong Show Ground in consultation with Chris Male from Blazeaide who is the coordinator. Chris is doing an amazing job with the teams on the ground and listening tonight to the stories of appreciation from our fa...rmers is soul warming. So to enable Chris to coordinate and focus on the good work that Blazeaide do we as a team will help feed them. We are in the process of finalising a monthly menu and have established stock ordering through Fullers Meat, Adelong food works and some distributors from Wagga where we need to source specialised products in bulk. I will be doing a two weekly roster tonight and asking for help in coordinating a minimum of four volunteers with two reserves each night from Sunday to Friday, catering for approximately 65 people with six volunteers and two reserves on a Saturday night for 120 people on farmers night. The menu along with recipes and quantity will be provided but since it is early days we need some time to get all this together. There will be support provided. I have some names that have already been provided to me along with some lovely volunteers who came up to see me today to offer support and volunteer in the kitchen. I have tomorrow night organised with Lesley Clarke and her team but need to set the roster for the next fortnight and beyond. Blazeaide will be here for six months. I have some contact details of people I will contact tomorrow to slip on the roster but I need the following please. Name Phone number Available nights. Please text or ring me on 0413 672 202 or respond to this post. I am looking at rostering every two to three weeks so we do not burn out our volunteers. There is a massive amount of other jobs that need to be done that don’t require people attending at night. For example, we had some delicious cakes made by locals over the weekend that we used for desert tonight. Nothing was left! Marlene is making an apricot crumble tomorrow night for desert. So if that is your speciality please feel free to let us know. I haven’t seen the kids in 10 hours so I better go and see if they still love me. I’ll be in touch And thanks again for all your help! The volunteers at Blazeaide love food!

07.01.2022 Getting desert ready for blaze aid dinner.

07.01.2022 In this ever changing environment. We will no longer be sending teams in to cook at blaze aid till further notice. However if your team would like to ring Dawn at blaze aid on 0407790997. You can find out what they are planning or what they have to cook, and either offer to collect food to cook or make a dessert, salad or veg bake. Then deliver back to them. They would be very happy for you to help in this way. Stay safe everyone and hopefully this will all end soon.

07.01.2022 We are in need of a couple of washing machine. To be used by Blazeaid at the showground. If anyone has one we can borrow please let me know.

04.01.2022 I have had the most wonderful day at the Blazeaid camp in Adelong today. Our camp was blessed with the provision of a feast for dinner tonight. The food was lov...ingly prepared by The United Muslim Ladies Association from Lakemba. This amazing group of women left Lakemba at 5am this morning to bring this delicious food to the volunteers to thank them for the work they are doing. As a city based group, this was a way to connect with rural communities for no other reason than to show they care. They arrived full of compassion for our community and love in their hearts. They returned to Lakemba after having a brief chat with us all at the camp and a little tour around the town. The ladies were keen to learn all about our area, including the history, agriculture and industry. I took them for a little trip out to the Yaven Creek area to show them some of the fire affected farmland. Their hearts wept. The emotions experienced in this brief little bus trip swang like a pendulum from tears for the farmers to laughter when I shared with them stories about my beautiful childhood in Adelong. I did tell a few Wimpy Bye stories, and about how Mum taught a few generations of families at Yaven Creek and thereafter Adelong school. What a privilege is was to meet this beautiful, humble and generous group of ladies. The day was topped off by sharing prayers under the shade of a tree in front of the chook shed at the Adelong Show Ground. They prayed their Muslim prayers after explaining to me their rituals and the messages of gratitude on their hearts. As a Christian I prayed right alongside of them proudly and thanking God for bringing us together. They were so kind, gentle and loving. It was an experience that will stay on my heart forever. We are so Blessed to live in Australia where we can live in peace and harmony with that true Aussie spirit to unite, support and nurture each other in tough times. One of the Blazeaid volunteers summed things up perfectly in his message of thanks. Thanks Robert. I am so proud to be Australian. Happy Australia Day everyone. See more

03.01.2022 We are desperate for some pedestal fans or water misting fans for use in the Pavillon. Does anyone have some we could use please??
