23.01.2022 THE RESULTS OF OUR NATIONAL ADHD SURVEY ARE IN We are pleased to publish the results of our Under the Radar Survey. The survey is the voice of the Australian AD...HD community, revealing the gaps and priorities for people living with ADHD in Australia. Thank you to all who completed the survey. From the community groups who shared with their members, to the 1616 individuals who responded. Without you we wouldn't have this valuable data and insight to advance the cause of people living with ADHD in Australia, and to inform our five year strategic plan. The findings confirm the need for those living with ADHD to be more fully understood as individuals and to have more support in schools, the workplace and at home. The Survey also highlights the need for the reduction in the stigma across all age groups which follows a diagnosis of ADHD. Schools need to truly accommodate, empathise with and understand children with ADHD. Better understating and training for teachers, and support for these children, could have a lasting impact on their future lives. Stigma is faced by people with ADHD on a daily basis, in many aspects of their lives. The survey revealed that the biggest difficulty is the everyday challenges of living with the condition (60.3%). Financial burden is high and ranges from medication, and medical related services, to managing additional school costs for children with ADHD. There were also implications for earning power and spending due to ADHD affecting work. HOW WILL WE ADVANCE THE ADHD COMMUNITY PRIORITIES? We aim to create positive public awareness and improved understanding, through evidence-based information, which will reduce the stigma associated with ADHD. Our focus will be on improving education and strategies to help reduce the financial burden felt. We plan to partner with government and other like-minded organisations to fulfil our vision. This Under the Radar Survey has been shared with a wide range of Ministers and stakeholders across health, education, workplace training. For deeper understanding of the survey results visit our website to download a copy of the report. www.adhdaustralia.org.au To help us start to raise awareness and reduce stigma, we encourage you to share this post with your social community. Over the coming weeks we will be posting more detail about the core findings from the report.

12.01.2022 What a crazy year... We suffered bushfires, pandemics, protests and the list goes on.... But above it all... you survived! When you set your New Years resolution, I urge you to be more understanding, compassionate and gentle with yourself. ... It's great to better yourself in the new year, but please speak kindly to the person you are now - you have made it through a lot & sometimes just surviving is enough Let's make 2021 the year we focus on gentle self acceptance & healing instead of resolutions we know are possibly unachievable and not SMART based (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time based). Happy New Year, everyone!
