24.01.2022 In September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a History teacher at Valley Heights High School in Port Rowan, Ontario , did something not to ...be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks in her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks. 'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?' She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.' They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.' 'No,' she said. 'Maybe it's our behaviour.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behaviour.' And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom. Kids called their parents to tell them what was happening and by early afternoon television news crews had started gathering at the school to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room. The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the desk-less classroom. Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he or she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.' At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it. Twenty-seven (27) Veterans, all in uniform, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned. Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. They went halfway around the world, giving up their education and interrupting their careers and families so you could have the freedom you have. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.' By the way, this is a true story. And this teacher was awarded Veterans of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year in 2006. She is the daughter of a WWII POW. Do you think this is worth passing along so others won't forget either, that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by our Veterans? I did. Let us always remember the men and women of our military and the rights they have won for us.

23.01.2022 Borrowed from a friend of a friend........... "Before we get too hung up on blaming the State Government or the Federal Government or China for our Covid-19 si...tuation let’s review some facts : 1. We had to bring in mandatory quarantining in hotels because we couldn’t trust people to stay home after returning from overseas. 2. We then had to bring in security because we couldn’t trust people to stay in those hotels. 3. We then had to bring in ADF because we couldn’t trust the security guards not to have sex with those in quarantine in the hotels. 4. We had to get police to door knock and check up on people because we couldn't trust those who were meant to be self-isolating to actually stay at home. 5. We also have to have police and ADF reinforce the metropolitan Melbourne zone and state borders because we can’t trust people to follow the restrictions. 6. We are now being asked to use masks because we cannot trust people to social distance when they are in public. 7. Through it all, our supermarkets have had to introduce shopping restrictions because we couldn’t trust people to not to take more than what they needed. So we can get as mad as we want at politicians or health officials for imposing restrictions or the country where the virus originated ..... but essentially it’s our own fault that we find ourselves here. Too many people aren’t willing to think of others rather than just themselves. Selfishness and lack of empathy seems to be as much of a disease as covid itself."

19.01.2022 There was a little coffee shop, where two people arrive and approach the counter. "Five coffees please. Two for us and three hanging. They paid, they took... their two coffees and left. I asked the waiter. "What’s this about hanging coffees?" "Wait and you'll see." Some more people came in. Two girls asked for a coffee each, they paid & left. The following order was for seven coffees and it was made by three women - ‘three for them and four hanging coffees.’ I was left wondering...what is the meaning of the hanging coffees, they leave. Suddenly, a man dressed in worn clothes, who looks like he might be homeless, arrives at the counter and asks sincerely. " Do you have a coffee hanging?" Yes we do sir They serve him a coffee.... I got my answer on these famous " HANGING COFFEES" People pay in advance for a coffee that will be served to whoever can't afford a hot drink. This tradition started in Naples. Amazingly it’s spread throughout the worlds cities and towns. It’s also possible to order not only "hanging coffees" but also a sandwich or a full low cost meal. Make sure to publish this beautiful idea to everyone. Share it if you want to help promote the idea too. Wouldn’t it be great if we could all start doing this in the cities, towns and villages where we live. Let me know if your local coffee shop does this. They all need promoting Please like & share our page

09.01.2022 What would my Mom think of that?" In a race, (see picture), athlete Abel Mutai representing Kenya, was just a few feet from the finish line, but he was confused... with the signage & stopped thinking he had completed the race. The Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez was right behind him & realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't know Spanish didn't understand. Then the Spanish pushed him to victory. A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?" Ivan replied, "My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life". The journalist insisted "But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win". The journalist insisted again, "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him & replied, "But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honour of that medal? What would my Mom think of that?" 05.01.2022 Tuesday Tip: How to improve self confidence in 5 simple steps Plan and prepare: Facing a new or challenging situation can shake our confidence. One of the most... important parts of building confidence is planning and preparing for the unknown. Learning, knowledge and training: By learning and gaining knowledge, we have more trust in our abilities to complete tasks, roles or face new challenges. Positive Mindset: Often we underestimate the power of our mind, but when building confidence a positive mindset is one of the most powerful tools you can use! Keep calm: There is a strong link between staying calm and being confident by focussing on staying calm in a challenging situation, your confidence will also improve. Experience: When we complete a task or face a challenging situation successfully, our experience grows and our confidence with it! This is why it is especially important to try new things and put ourselves out there often! #JTAcademy #JTConnect #TuesdayTip #confidence #youvegotthis #youthemployment #selfbelief Ultra Management - Sports Deadly Choices

05.01.2022 If any of you have ever been to a military funeral in which The Last Post was played; This brings out a new meaning of it. Here is something everyone should kno...w. Until I read this, I didn't know, We have all heard the haunting song, 'The Last Post.' It's the song that gives us the lump in our throats and usually tears in our eyes. But, do you know the story behind the song? If not, I think you will be interested to find out about its humble beginnings. Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the American Civil War, when Union Army Captain Robert Ellicombe was with his men near Harrison's Landing in Virginia ... The Confederate Army was on the other side of the narrow strip of land. During the night, Captain Ellicombe heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field. Not knowing if it was a Union or Confederate soldier, the Captain decided to risk his life and bring the stricken man back for medical attention. Crawling on his stomach through the gunfire, the Captain reached the stricken soldier and began pulling him toward his encampment. When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead.. The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier.. It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out. Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in the Confederate Army. The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted. The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral. The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate. But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him only one musician. The Captain chose a bugler. He asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youth's uniform. This wish was granted. The haunting melody, we now know as 'The Last Post' used at military funerals was born. The words are: Day is done. Gone the sun.. From the lakes From the hills. From the sky. All is well. Safely rest. God is nigh. Fading light. Dims the sight. And a star. Gems the sky. Gleaming bright. From afar.. Drawing nigh. Falls the night.. Thanks and praise. For our days. Neath the sun Neath the stars. Neath the sky As we go. This we know. God is nigh I too have felt the chills while listening to 'The Last Post' But I have never seen all the words to the song until now. I didn't even know there was more than one verse . I also never knew the story behind the song and I didn't know if You had either so I thought I'd pass it along. I now have an even deeper respect for the song than I did before. Remember Those Lost and Harmed While Serving Their Country. Also Remember Those Who Have Served And Returned; And for those presently serving in the Armed Forces. Please send this on. For our soldiers...please don't break it . I didn't!

02.01.2022 "Participating in a start-up weekend changed my life. It taught me you can create your own opportunities, be successful, & do it from where you are. I also real...ised I could have a meaningful impact. Jump forward & I now work from the USC: University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia Innovation Centre as a social entrepreneur empowering others. Initially, I learned to identify a problem, explore solutions & commercialise it. As a young Mum, I applied this to my own life - developing a platform with wellbeing resources for FIFO workers & their families. It led to helping more people than I ever imagined, including myself. I do love that more women are smashing stereotypes. What I want to see is more diversity in business, from age, gender, cultural & all types of perspectives. Embrace diversity & the wealth of knowledge that can be shared. I always say to people an idea is just an idea until you do something with it. By sharing & attending events like start-up weekends, you can build confidence in taking the smallest step & turn ideas into reality. At the same time, you don't have to know everything. That's the power of collaborating & sharing. Ask for help, surround yourself with smart people, give back & volunteer where you can. When I finished school, success was a degree & leaving the region to pursue opportunities with corporates. But education & success can mean something different to each person. The world is changing, & we need to futureproof, not limit ourselves. If you find yourself in a meeting or event where you are not either learning or providing value then move to somewhere you are. Choose to have meaning in your life." Renee Coman #JTAcademy #JTEverydayPeople #girlscandoanything #JTWomenToLead
