22.01.2022 1 July 2014: Increase in Visa Evidence Charge(for Australia Citizenship) On 1 July 2014, the fee (Visa Evidence Charge) to obtain a visa label increased from AU$70 to AU$140. Due to Australias electronic visa system, it is not mandatory for visa holders to have a visa label affixed to their passport. Those who choose to do so, and who do not meet the exemption requirements, must pay the charge. Further details are available here: www.aditumlegal.com.au

The reciprocal work and holiday visa arrangement fosters peopletopeople links between the two countries, bolstering our already close and positive relationship, Minister Morrison said. 16.01.2022 10 July 2014: Occupation ceilings update for General Skilled Migration The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has announced its occupation ceilings for its 2014-2015 migration programm. Important points are as follows. - State and Territory nominated Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated and Subclass 489 Skilled Regional visas are no longer subject to occupation ceilings (family sponsored Subclass 489 visas are still subject to ceilings). The effect of restrictions b...eing lifted from State Nominated Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated and Subclass 489 Skilled Regional visas is that, even where a ceiling has been reached for a particular occupation, States and Territories can continue to nominate for those occupations. Accordingly, the occupational ceilings are relevant to only those occupations on the Skilled Occupation List http://www.immi.gov.au/Work/Pages/skilled- occupations- lists/sol.aspx and not all those on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List http://www.immi.gov.au//skilled-occupations-lists/csol.aspx as was the case previously. - Major changes have been implemented for the number of places available to Chefs, Accountant, Engineers, Teacher, Construction Trades and IT Professionals. Places for Chefs have decreased by 1,353 places. Places for Accountants have been reduced by 4,242 places. As the ceiling was not reached last year, it is hoped that this reduction would not negatively impact visa applicants. Significantly, Engineers have 2,530 more places compared to last year and IT Professionals have an additional 1,132 places. Construction Trades have had places reduced by 2,168 places and places for Teachers have been reduced by 1,170. As with Accountants, the ceiling for Teachers was not reached last year and it is likely that the reduction will not negatively impact visa applicants. 16.01.2022 Article written by our Principal Solicitor STEVEN SUE: 2 September 2014: Are you thinking of applying for or have you been granted a subclass 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa? Are you wondering if you have to stay with your employer for the full two years? The Subclass 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa is a permanent visa, but requires the visa applicant to be sponsored by a nominating employer for a role that is located in regional Australia. ...Regional for the purposes of this visa is determined by a specific list of postcodes. The nominated role must be performed in one of those postcodes. A very common question that 187 visa applicants and holders ask is: Do I have to stay with my sponsoring employer for two years after I get the visa?. Your commitment Visa applicants must declare on their application form that:- 1.they agree to work in the nominated position for at least two years; and 2.they understand that if they (or any family members included in the application or third parties acting the applicants behalf) provide (or have provided in a previous application) false or misleading information or bogus documents either knowingly or otherwise, the 187 visa application will be refused and the applicant may as a result be subject to three-year ban and that a visa granted can be cancelled.... 05.01.2022 10 July 2014: Change in Immigration onshore medical services provider The current organisation that visa applicants in Australia go to for medicals is Medibank Health Solutions (MHS). From 28 July 2014, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will use a different migration medical services provider: Bupa Medical Visa Services (Bupa). The DIBP expects that the change in service provider will mean better service for visa applicants. Bupa will take over all... the onshore migration and visa medical services that are currently done by MHS, including reviews of past opinions from a Medical Officer of the Commonwealth, and also other migration medical services currently undertaken by the DIBP. The change in medical service provider will affect any onshore visa applicant who is required by the DIBP to undergo a medical examination. Further information, click on www.aditumlegal.com.au.

05.01.2022 Article by our Principal Solicitor STEVEN SUE: 14 August 2014: Holding a bridging visa or no visa? Planning on applying for a partner visa while in Australia? If you currently hold a bridging visa or your last visa has expired and you intend to lodge an application for an onshore (Subclass 820/801 Partner Visa), you will need to demonstrate to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) case officer that you meet additional legal requirements before you can b...e granted the partner visa. These requirements are over and above the usual requirements (e.g. genuine, committed and ongoing relationship with an eligible sponsor, health and character requirements) for the partner visa. These additional requirements are contained in Schedule 3 to the Migration Regulations and require the visa applicant to demonstrate that they have been met or there are compelling reasons why they do not have to be met. Compelling reasons is not defined in migration law. The DIBP has a policy manual that assists case officers to interpret the meaning of terms that are not defined. The policy manual, which is updated periodically, is not something that most visa applicants are aware of. Many partner visa applicants who do not seek professional advice from a registered migration agent or lawyer before they lodge the onshore partner visa application do not know that they are affected by the additional Schedule 3 requirements. They only become aware of it when the DIBP case officer writes to ask for information and evidence relating to it. Please check our website to read the full article: https://www.aditumlegal.com.au/
