25.01.2022 3 years today since I witnessed and supported this powerhouse woman to birth one incredibly generous gift into the arms of 2 dads

18.01.2022 I spent a recent gorgeous sunny afternoon with Kerensa who is due to give birth to twins towards the end of Spring. She was after a garden inspired design and was happy for me to improvise as I went. We started with some peonies and ferns, then added some paisley and gerbera style flowers. She happened to be admiring her cornflowers and asked me to add them in too. All the while her woman tribe were hanging out on the back deck chatting and creating a weave with various wools... and scraps from baby wraps she had used for her first child. I needed to stop on occasion so that she could have a laugh with them and move her body. Her 5 year son and his friend popped out of the house for check in with mum and admired her belly art before being taken to the park by one of the men in her tribe. It was so relaxed and joyful, the whole occasion made me think, why don’t we all do this every wknd? Sit around with a bunch of friends and create things of beauty!! One woman commented I’d told myself I’d just come over for a bit, but here I am 4 hours later and no housework’s been done!! I reckon she’s got her priorities straight. We decided to finish the design with a dragon fly inspired by that same friend’s own tattoo. Her partner Nadia wanted some boobs included in the design, but we decided not to go there . Some of the centre parts of the paisleys look like boobs anyway. Isn’t she just divine? I am forever grateful that I’ve been given a gift that allows me to honor and celebrate power women like Kerensa. Wishing her and her family the most blissful birth and postpartum! #hennabelly #springafternoon #gardengathering #womantribe #honorthemother #twins #blissfulbirthblessings

18.01.2022 Fantastic!! Anything that brings more awareness to the benefits of water birth needs to be shared far and wide.

17.01.2022 A spiral jasmine vine for my beautiful friend and colleague @annasiebert_undone It was such a joy to create for her!! Each flower has 5 petals - perfect for her family of 5 to be. Each group of flowers has 2 large ones to represent Mum and Dad, and if you look closely there are 3 little baby buds coming off each mama flower #hennabelly #spiral #jasminevine #familyoffive #canberradoula #sobeautiful

16.01.2022 Beautiful, great to know our Sydney neighbours are jumping on board public funded homebirth support too <3 <3 <3

13.01.2022 Medicare rebates for homebirth care are well overdue. We need this now more than ever!

11.01.2022 Maple syrup and cardamom muffins heading your way @annasiebert_undone If heaven had a smell, this would be it! #yum #avurvedicpostpartum #nurture #fortydaysofrest #motherlove #postpartumdoula

11.01.2022 Have you ever wondered about whether doulas are evidence based?? "Offering doulas as part of a menu of choices in the prenatal period would be a way to empower women to be actively involved in preparing for birth and developing self-efficacy in maternal health behaviors. Women offered evidenced-based health information, support in improving their prenatal health behaviors, and the kinds of support provided by doulas are likely to make more informed choices throughout the pregnancy regarding their health and that of their baby." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3647727/

10.01.2022 Precious. So grateful that my own births and also a few I have supported have looked just like this

09.01.2022 Finding joy on my lunchtime walks this week soaking in all the springtime growth Despite not having a move in date for our new house yet I’m trusting that it will happen in perfect time. Life at @livewellswc is better than ever - our practitioners are doing a beautiful job keeping up with the needs of our beautiful clients. Most of them are booked out weeks in advance and we now have extra support from our admin team to manage the wait lists. Recently I’ve begun to show ...symptoms of having an under active thyroid... unfortunately it’s in my genes I have caught it early however and am feeling very well supported by the Live Well team. Fingers crossed everything I do will slow down the progression of Hashimotos. To add to that, turns out my body is affirming that I’m done having babies my bleed has stopped and it’s peri menopause for me at age 38! No other concerning symptoms to report so it’s all good. The body knows what’s needed and we had made that decision 6 years ago Seems 2020, though a huge year of change for everyone, for me is turning out to to be a year of profound transitions and growth through adversity. Feeling strong and resilient. I hope you all are too! #reflecting #springtime #lovemyjob #growththroughadversity #patience #underactivethyroid #perimenopause #preventativemedicine See more

08.01.2022 Breastfeeding is a relationship, a journey. It is not something we can get right or wrong or something we achieve. https://simplero.com/d/iaOPLhsTpLGSOw0Z/c/2411409/7

06.01.2022 Amazing! I wish I had photos of my 3rd birth- my son Kye was born en caul too. He was also born on his due date and of perfect average weight. I breathed him out after giving myself and him some reiki

05.01.2022 Home birthing in the ACT will be available to more women after a trial was deemed a success. All 42 women who took part in the ACT Government trial successfull...y gave birth at home, with all reporting they felt empowered by the experience. Of those who participated, 90% experienced no complications during labour one baby was an undiagnosed breech and ended up in neonatal intensive care. Four women were transferred to hospital post-partum. It's now been recommended that the service be expanded to women who live further away from the Canberra Hospital. Giving birth is an exciting and highly personal time for women and families. The success of the homebirth trial provides an alternative for women who want to give birth in a familiar place with a midwife they know and trust," Minister for Health Rachel Stephen-Smith said.

05.01.2022 Soaking up the glorious sunshine on my arvo walk. No filter needed. Sooo excited for the months to come as this Spring energy builds. Deb and I have a beautiful repeat client and a first time mum booked for December. Our doula tribe will be holding a Blessingway soon for @annasiebert_undone as she prepares to welcome baby number 3 #springenergy #gloriousweather #soexcited #backinbusiness

04.01.2022 Online schooling officially finished for our family!! We’ve been very fortunate to have been able to share the responsibility with my parents as both Scott and I are considered essential workers. It’s been a joy to be at home a little more with the kids and our family bonds have grown even stronger through this, however I am reeeeeally looking forward to having a couple of wknds at the beach. Unfortunately Deb and I were not able to support our recent birth client when she welcomed her bub a few weeks ago, however we did provide her with plenty of ayurvedic meals and will be doing a few home massage visits for her as soon as we can. Cheers to creating our new normal as we come out the other side of a very difficult time for many. #nomoreonlineschool #familybonding #beachtimesoon #doulaingasbestwecan #ournewnormal

01.01.2022 Isn’t it just absolutely insane that women are only permitted to have one support person at their birth... still! So many have had to go without their doula present, not to mention their mum, sister or other significant others who would have been there to support their emotional and mental wellbeing.

01.01.2022 Bulk billed pregnancy and postpartum sessions are now available via video call with a wonderful colleague of mine Anne Castles. If you’re struggling, I urge you to take this offer up!! https://www.instagram.com/p/CBN0DTwAauK/?igshid=f7bu2zz30xei

01.01.2022 Cuppas, chats and cuddles with the gorgeous @wednesday_moon_ and her precious baby girl. It’s been 10 months since Deb and I had the pleasure of supporting this powerhouse woman to birth and enjoy her 40 days of rest. Despite a particularly hard breastfeeding journey and THE worst year to be building a motherhood tribe, you have come through stronger. It’s a joy to know you beautiful woman- you are such an excellent mum. Keep up the awesome work #keepingintouch #cuppasandchats #mothersrock #worstyearever #makingthebestofit #blessedlife #motheranddaughter
