Avalon Nursery gave away 100 trees in total to schools from Warrnambool and the surrounding local area. ADPS received 10 trees; 8 fruit trees and 2 ornamental trees, which are now planted in our school yard. Deb and Gary, together with students, planted the new trees in our school yard. A big thank you, Avalon Nursery and our wonderful parents who nominated us!

20.01.2022 A.D.P.S students from Foundation-Grade Six had the opportunity to enter the Brophy '2020 Father of the Year' competition. Grade F-2 students were asked to draw a picture of themselves with their father/father figure. Grade 3-4 students were asked to answer a question and draw a picture about their father/father figure. Grade 5-6 students were asked to answer two questions or create a poster about their father/father figure.... Everyone's involvement was greatly appreciated. The Rotary Club thanked us for our support of their promotion. They stated "It was a rewarding and humbling experience to receive your ‘winning’ entries from your own judging". Congratulations to our selected winners!

09.01.2022 Our Year 5/6 students have created story books that have been completed during Remote Learning. The students had to write and illustrate a picture story book with a message or moral. 06.01.2022 This year we’ve been lucky enough to be a partnership school of The Resilience Project, a program providing practical, evidence-based, positive mental health strategies to build resilience and happiness. The program looks to inspire students, empower staff, engage families and the wider school community. Our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students and all staff have been accessing the program and resources from school, taking part in activities and discussions relating to being aware of ...and developing gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and emotional literacy. The students in Year 5/6 have been challenged to, in the holidays, make a list of 3 things everyday that either went well for them, that they’re looking forward to, that they did that was nice for someone, that someone did for them that was nice and/or something that makes them happy. We’re looking forward to sharing our responses when we get back to school for Term 3! The program itself is endorsed by many schools, corporate groups, sporting organisations and is well worth looking into with the material and content being relevant, powerful and practical. Their website is easy to navigate and has lots of helpful hints, suggestions, videos and activities to help promote and develop resilience and happiness in both children and adults, with a section devoted to using the Resilience Project at home. https://theresilienceproject.com.au/ https://theresilienceproject.com.au/at-home/
