25.01.2022 Celebrated every year on 19 August, World Humanitarian Day is directed towards honouring humanitarian efforts worldwide and promoting the idea of supporting people in crisis. On this day, ADRA advocates on behalf of the entire humanitarian community. World Humanitarian Day 2019 celebrates women humanitarians and their undying contribution in making the world a better place. Women humanitarians hold a sense of unparalleled uniqueness, one that adds to the global momentum of fe...male strength, power and perseverance. Here in the South Pacific, ADRA's humanitarian program is strongly influenced and lead by women: from our church-based projects at the Conference level, to our engagement with the Australia and New Zealand Governments, and to our women leaders in the Pacific working with the church and communities to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters. Today is for you! #whd2019 #adraresponds #worldhumanitarianday

24.01.2022 A great opportunity to work with us here in the South Pacific

22.01.2022 The Henk Man and his Vego Van... His smoothies bring all the campers to the yard! The ADRA Community Centre in Logan Central, south of Brisbane, provides emerg...ency relief and assistance to anyone in need, including people suffering the effects of domestic violence. Supplying up to 500 food parcels per week, there is also a weekly soup kitchen operating Monday nights at 5:30pm. There is an ADRA Op Shop on site and the centre also offers training in Certificate III in Individual Care & Certificate III in Early Childhood Learning. As a certified Work for the Dole provider, the centre also provides opportunities for people to get back into employment. The centre has recently raised funds for the Vego Van to better serve the community. Get behind them! See more

22.01.2022 We are very sad for the unimaginable atrocity that ocurred in Christchurch today. As ADRA, we are praying for the affected families and the Muslim community i...n New Zealand and would like to encourage all of the supporters and volunteers to do the same. Together with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, ADRA supports freedom of religion and serves all people regardless of their religious, political or cultural background. Our deepest sympathy to the community in Christchurch!

22.01.2022 International Women's Day #IWD19 CARE Vanuatu and the Department of Womens Affairs have partnered with over 40 women and girls to produce the Mama Pasifika music video - including the SDA Mission in Vanuatu. The music video is dedicated to all women and girls in the South Pacific; raising womens voices, opportunities and recognising their achievements in politics, sports, education and business. Featuring women and girls who are challenging traditional gender roles, this video aims to promote the representation of women who are working to build a labour force that offers equal opportunities for both women and men.

21.01.2022 Today we recognise the women of ADRA Vanuatu on International Women’s Day 2020. Thank you!

21.01.2022 Its become the norm for our female-led ADRA team but the RNZ article highlights the complexity of disaster recovery in Papua New Guinea... When I visited recen...tly, we stopped at the Mendi Police station (pictured below) and picked up a three-man armed Police escort for our three-day visit to the Southern Highlands. We eye-roll at the prospect of undertaking risk assessments and completing safety and security plans, but its sobering when the team point out shallow graves beside the road and ask you the keep the tinted windows closed for the next seven corners of the National Highway! 19.01.2022 Celebrating success in a difficult response environment... Great work ADRA PNG

19.01.2022 UN OCHA have produced a short photo essay to honour the second anniversary of the PNG Highlands earthquake. Its worth a read to appreciate the complexity of working in this beautiful and challenging part of our region. Our ADRA team in Papua New Guinea, along with the SDA Church continue to play a strong role in the Highlands to build back safer through peace building initiatives and water, sanitation and hygiene programs. https://ocharoap.exposure.co/when_the_mountains_trembled

19.01.2022 Today we recognise the women of ADRA Vanuatu on International Womens Day 2020. Thank you!

18.01.2022 ADRA Vanuatu continue to support isolated communities affected by Tropical Cyclone Harold in April 2020; doubly impacted by COVID-19.

16.01.2022 As the world is focused on the threat of Coronavirus, please remember the Pacific Island nation of Vanuatu who are preparing for Severe Tropical Cyclone Harold, a Category 5 system with wind speeds above 250km/hour. Harold is expected to make landfall overnight and move slowly east through the centre of the country, directly affecting more than 200,000 people. #ADRAresponds

16.01.2022 ADRA staff from the South Pacific have joined colleagues in Asia for a week of intensive emergency management training and a three-day simulated disaster exercise. #adraresponds

16.01.2022 Recently, ADRA Indonesia responded to the Sulewesi earthquake with funding from the New Zealand and Australian Governments. The video demonstrates how organisations such as ADRA are able to maximise the impact despite the restriction of limited funding; working through established church and community partnerships.

13.01.2022 South Pacific... lets get behind this Please sign the petition and lets show the power of a united voice.

13.01.2022 Great work, ADRA Fiji... engaging the Church in a shared responsibility for disaster preparedness and climate change.

13.01.2022 Some excellent opportunities for the Church to be relevant in the community - for such a time as this!

13.01.2022 Sixteen months after Tropical Cyclone Gita devastated Tonga, Adventist schools and churches are "back to business" while many government-owned buildings still await repair.

12.01.2022 Update from ADRA Program Manager Graham Uzakana on current situation with TC Harold.

12.01.2022 ADRA South Pacific sponsored four staff, and newly-appointed TPUM youth director Pastor Charlie Jimmy, to attend a global conference in Jakarta, Indonesia.

12.01.2022 This is a wonderful ‘good news’ story to come out of the tragedy surrounding Tropical Cyclone Harold. ADRA’s Disaster Ready Churches project has a bright future!

10.01.2022 Another example of the long-term impact and slow path to recovery for isolated communities affected by tropical cyclones in the South Pacific. By partnering with Latter-day Saint Charities, ADRA is able to leverage stronger humanitarian assistance that helps communities build back better, and be more resilient to future hazards.

09.01.2022 A great example of disaster resilience in the Pacific...

08.01.2022 ADRA has sponsored four staff, and Pr. Charlie Jimmy, Youth Director for the Trans-Pacific Union Mission to attend a global conference in Jakarta, Indonesia this week. The Community Resilience Conference hosted by ADRA Indonesia, with delegates from more than 30 countries, is a great opportunity to both learn and contribute to a stronger partnership between the SDA Church and ADRA; particularly in how we can better engage young people in community service and disaster preparedness. ADRA's representatives from the South Pacific come from Australia, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Zealand. #adraresponds

08.01.2022 After 36 hours awake, responding to a simulated flood disaster, we have graduated new members to ADRAs Emergency Response Team in the South Pacific. #adraresponds #thatwasintense #proudoftheseguys

07.01.2022 It's #InternationalVolunteerDay. Did you know that 40-49 year olds are the most likely to volunteer, but one in five 15-19 year olds also love to lend a hand? #IVD2019

07.01.2022 Worth a watch... this is resilience: a shared responsibility for disaster preparedness!

06.01.2022 ADRA Vanuatu have been preparing for disaster events like Severe Tropical Cyclone Harold, working with youth to reduce the risk to their community and be better prepared to respond and recover.

06.01.2022 ADRA Fiji has received a special commendation from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for leading cash transfers in emergencies in the South Pacific. ADRAs UN Liaison, Mr. Frank Teeuwen (pictured right) delivered the good news to Ms. Anita Alburqueque, Program Director for ADRA Fiji today in Jordan. The provision of cash or vouchers to communities affected by disasters, instead of traditional aid (food, water, shelter) can be a much more responsive, efficient and effective solution. Congratulations Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Fiji and keep up the good work.

06.01.2022 Two members of ADRAs South Pacific Emergency Response Team (ERT) have been deployed to India to support the humanitarian effort in Puri District, following last weeks Category 4 cyclone FANI. More than 1.5 million people have been directly affected in the State of Odisha, with nearly 90% of homes destroyed. ADRA is providing tarpaulins and non food items as part of the initial response. Station Officer Glen Mole from Fire and Rescue New South Wales and Anna Downing from ADRA Australia will provide surge capacity to the ADRA India humanitarian team for the next few weeks. : Glen Mole

05.01.2022 Please give generously... Tropical Cyclone Idai is now regarded as one of the worst tropical cyclones on record to affect Africa and the Southern Hemisphere as a whole. The South Pacific has, so far, enjoyed a relatively quiet tropical cyclone season in 2019. Our friends in Africa need our help at this time.

04.01.2022 Trained youth volunteers in the Solomon Islands are working with the four largest SDA Churches in Honiara to pilot a Disaster Ready Churches project. The goal is to provide practical skills to youth around disaster preparedness, evacuation centre management and vulnerability mapping: using new geospatial information system (GIS) technology. : Natasha Eddie Hivae

03.01.2022 A welcome visit today from the ADRA Zimbabwe leadership team and President of the East Zimbabwe SDA Union Conference. Left to right: Pr Godfrey Musara, Michael Peach, Judith Musvosvi, and Fortune Goredema

02.01.2022 Here in the South Pacific we have some of the most disaster-prone countries; particularly Vanuatu, which is ranked the world's most at-risk country for natural hazards, according to UN WorldRiskIndex. There is much we can learn from our neighbours in Indonesia, where ADRA is partnering with the Church to mobilise a volunteer army of Pathfinders to help communities prepare for natural disasters.

02.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce that Michael Kruger has been named ADRA President! Michael Kruger is a proven spirit-filled servant leader. We trust his commitment..., vision, and passion to expand ADRA’s work globally, but also to ensure that ADRA continues to be relevant and effective in a rapidly changing world, said ADRA board chair Geoffrey Mbwana.
