25.01.2022 KB SWING LUNGES Weve been getting Kettlebell happy lately and trying a whole range of new exercises and this one is a cracker This one has all the perks of a KB swing with the challenge of a lunge incorporated into the movement. ... 22.01.2022 WORK UP 2 THE PULL UP If you dont have access to an assisted pull up machine, these MA1 resistance bands should be your go to for developing that pull up And who doesnt want to be able to beast out multiple pull ups... Remember the thicker the resistance band, the easier the pull up. And the higher you place the resistance band the easier the workload. To keep you guys on track and make things a little more interesting, we are going to be posting a "WORKOUT OF THE WEEK" challenge which we want everyone to have a go at and post their times. There will be eternal bragging rights for anyone who can beat our times for a workout. We may even let you ...plan your own brutal workout for us. To start us off.... WORKOUT OF THE WEEK No. 1 7 rounds: 15 KB swings (16kg females, 24kg males) 15 Power Cleans (30kg female, 40kg male) 15 Box Jumps (which ever height you can handle) Laura's time was 20:18 (with middle box height) If you have any injuries, feel free to ask for a modification exercise. Special mention to Rosie who completed a modified version (with 20kg thrusters instead of cleans and the HIGHEST level box jump) this morning in 23:14. If you come close to either of these times, you are killing it! Give it a crack over the long weekend and don't forget to post your times and weight used. HAPPY EXERCISING

16.01.2022 Merry Christmas Eve to you all and a big thank you to our clients who have made this year an amazing one. Its your turn to enjoy a few drinks, great food and even better company. Cos who are we kidding, its Christmas and we all love to have a drink (or five) with loved ones. And youve all earned it!! But the fact of the matter is, if we continue to consume the copious amounts of high calorie food and extra alcohol that the festive season brings right through to Austra...lia Day celebrations, it is very likely you will put on a few KGs. So here are a few tips to keep you guys on track without forfeiting any Christmas merriment. 1. If you are drinking spirits, chose to mix it with either soda water or still water and fresh lemon. This will keep you hydrated and tastes surprisingly great. 2. Fill up your plate as much as you want at Christmas lunch BUT eat the salad and vegetables first. The fibre in them will fill you up quicker making it less likely that you overeat on the higher calorie foods. Eat the protein second. Try to eat slowly and enjoy your company. Then go nuts on whatever else on your plate. 3. Drink a glass of water every hour (or at least every time you refill your alcoholic beverage). 4. I dont usually recommend it, but if the Christmas tradition is a big family lunch, it wont kill you to skip breakfast. Save the calories for the extra delicious feast you have in store for lunch. Same goes for dinner if thats the tradition. 5. Choose the lower calorie snacks around the table- think delicious fresh fruit! 6. Keep training during the festive season. Most of you have time off work so the "no time" excuse isnt going to cut it. Put those extra calories to good use and start building some muscle! I promise these simple things wont leave you looking like a weirdo avoiding everything on Christmas and you will thank yourself for it in February. Alternatively, you can book in 5 sessions a week with us to get yourself back on track...well leave the choice with you! Love and peace to you all Laura & Barney

11.01.2022 HAVE A BALL Threw together a little circuit today with our new @ma1_strength 20lb Wall Ball. 45 Seconds Each Exercise: Speed Slams... Right Hand Side Throws Left Hand Side Throws Drop Ball Squats (Hands Out) Wall Balls Remember to keep a nice posture in your squat movements. Really utilize and rip the abs on your side throws (Dont lob the ball with your back) Keep it fast and intense. Adjust the time on your rounds to your fitness level and/or adjust the wallball weight to match the times rounds. Aim for 5 rounds have 1 minute breaks between sets. 10.01.2022 HANGING ABOUT Have been changing up my sessions lately by throwing in some movements incorporating the rope. Finish off your chest session with some explosive tyre Push-Ups to rope grab. The rope grab turns your humble chest working push-up into an ab snapper, back tenser monster of a movement.... Alternate hand rope push-ups are a great way to build grip strength and also tests the brain with a pull/push motion in opposite arms. Was feeling the bis back and arms trio in this awesome switch up. Rope get ups were a nice finisher, using the whole upper body to get to my feet. Finding significant mobility gains in terms of my hips and in the lateral movement of my spine. ... 06.01.2022 CLIENT SPOTLIGHT Dean has battled through blood, sweat, (a few tears that he probably wont admit to), multiple crippling leg days and has come out a weapon that our country is lucky to have as he leaves for the army tomorrow. This kid has gone from hardly being able to squat his own body weight to tearing through workouts that most people only dream about (whilst taking his shirt off admiring his newly found abs ).... If you want to give dean a run for his money try GI Jane (100 burpee pull-ups) in under 11 minutes. This was AFTER we tested his 1RMs on the three major lifts for his last PT session today. Dean, you are the worlds biggest smart ass, but we wouldnt have it any other way. Your energy will definitely be missed in the gym. Congratulations man, you deserve every bit of success that comes your way!

05.01.2022 TEST YOUR SQUAT The mobility squat is an awesome way to test your form in a squat, especially if you dont have anyone to critique your form when practising So heres my squat form with feet shoulder width apart. Getting to parallel is not too bad apart from the fact that my toes lift of the ground a tad (probably best to test with shoes off).
