This class is an experience of deep rest that is rejuvenating and restorative for your body and mind. The emphasis is on physical support, nervous system regulation and constructive rest. The class will start and end with breathing awareness. As always I am intuitively guided with how to pace and run each session. Trust that I am listening to what your spirit is seeking at this time. Yoga is a fluid, flowing and evolving system. This style of yoga is very therapeutic and people of all levels can benefit from the nurturing. Through gentle moves, stillness and quiet space you will learn to let go of tension and embrace peace of mind. This is suitable for a complete beginner, anyone recovering from injuring or illness. You will be guided all the way. Bring to class: Hand towel, mat, one blanket and any yoga props you may already have in your home. If you own a bolster, yoga belt, blocks have them all at the ready. 16.01.2022 Have you tried this pose? It’s especially good if you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, congested, contracted, stressed, sleep deprived or and breathless. This one simple pose has the power to dissolve all of that and give you a deep rest at the same time. It really works. ____________ Forget reaching for wine or chocolate. Grab a yoga strap instead. Loop it up and hook it around your foot first then to the base of your head. Be sure to sit it above your ears. Your head wants to b...e off the floor, with your chin tipped towards your chest. The strap needs tension so that it can hold you up. Tighten or loosen according to your flexiblilty. Either rest your hands on your belly or extend them behind you for more stretch. This is a modified version to #Supta Padangusthasana (Reclining Hand to Big Toe pose). It gently wraps you up and lulls you back to balance one breath at a time. Trust. Let go. Rest. And your nervous system will loosen up and shift back to the soothing parasympathetic state. It has been my saviour from the beginning of my yoga life. If you’ve been in one of my classes chances are you would’ve done this one with me. Tips: 1. Only use a Yoga Strap 2. Strap length 2.5 - 3 meters3. It’s ok to bend the top leg in the beginning4. If your leg shakes, loosen the strap5. Start off staying for 3 minutes and build up to 10 minutes6. TRUST and LET GO Let me know how you go with it. 13.01.2022 I see. I’ve become proficient at listening, laughing and eating chocolate cake. A bit listless. A bit lightness. I’m a Libran, I can do that! I’m not going to say a word about ‘what a year it’s been’ cause quite frankly each year is an eye opener. The constant reshaping from clear to clearer opens my heart wider and renders deep gratitude. 13.01.2022 Some days you just want to start again. Monday started with me yawning while meditating and my jaw dislocated. What this entailed was me screaming and my mouth unable to shut. My new soft box light exploded which after my jaw locked felt like the roof had fallen in. Oh that’s right, the roof did fall apart after the storm the other day. Being born from hardworking Italian immigrants they were the example of persistence pays off. So onwards with my yoga practice. Wanting more ...light in my room I lifted the blind up only to have it dislodge from the beam and crumble to the ground. Of course it did. I finished my yoga practice and my mouth was able to shut but my jaw was still misaligned. I couldn’t eat or chew. Someone shoot me please. But honestly, nothing could be worst than the travesty of attending two online funerals that afternoon where I watched as my friends said good-bye to their loved ones while social distancing. I weeped for them, for this time that we are all living, for my pathetic jaw. This photo just felt like the right image to represent that some days you taking a leg up is all you can do to feel better. #legup See more
