Dear friends, Recently, 4 boxes of beautiful, new children's books were sen...t to the children in detention on Nauru by Befriend a Child in Detention. The books were donated by publishers, writers, booksellers and members of the community. Each book included a letter of greeting from a child or an adult or a family, and many people also added stamped self-addressed envelopes for children in detention who wished to become Pen Pals. Befriend a Child in Detention have just heard that the children on Nauru and their teachers from Save the Children Australia - received the books and the letters with delight. Even more than the gift, it is the knowledge that they are not forgotten, that many Australians care for them, which truly matters to these children and their families. Befriend a Child in Detention would like to send more books and letters to Nauru, and also to the children in detention across Australia.
