18.01.2022 Workshop snaps....

17.01.2022 Not one element within this unique piece of 'Functional Metal Art' is symmetrical and yet it is simply perfect #FunctionalMetalArt #adsfabstasmania #madeintasmania @www.adsfabstasmania.com

17.01.2022 One of our clever customers made this handcrafted cheese board for a wedding present. To make it extra special, we designed a heart shape insert to fit into the handle with the bride and grooms initials inside. Another unique project by Ad's Fab's Tasmania. www.adsfabstasmania.com

17.01.2022 Replacing something OLD with something NEW is often a straight forward job....unless the new something needs to look authentically old!!! ****************** The Sandridge Estate shed doors have opened and closed on many special celebrations and functions in their time and are now in need of some love and attention. Ad's Fab's have been entrusted with the job of revamping these doors by merging old and new materials in a sympathetic fashion. New frames have been constru...cted, sandblasted and left to patina to blend in with the rest of the shed. New industrial (150mm) rollers will replace the original (50mm) ones to to ensure smooth rolling for many more years to come. The original tin will be carefully pulled off and reassembled on the new frames. The internal pins and handles (with fishtail finishes) have been forged from 18mm sqaure bar and will be attractive features from inside of the shed. Finally, the front of the doors will have two repurposed horse hames (donated by 'Lowther Heavy Horses') to complete the picture. One of the hames were made in Australia from 1914-1950 (Kangaroo Brand). The other, marked P & Q Staple still remains somewhat a mystery as to its origins? Historical features such as these are sure to be conversation starters! Installing this week... watch this space! www.adsfabstasmania.com See more

16.01.2022 Collaborating with other artists is always a pleasure and designing alongside Kim (from Studio Koak) is no exception. Her leather pieces are uniquely handmade and incorporate the use of many different mediums (now including forged hardware from Ad's Fab's Tasmania). The ethos and quality behind each item is not only admirable, but indicative of a true artist. * All pieces are forged from solid Australian steel, hammered to perfection, cleaned up with a wire brush, soaked in acetone and finished in high quality lacquer. * www.adsfabstasmania.com

16.01.2022 Balustrade with forged fishtail scroll work, ties and handmade decorative features. www.adsfabstasmania.com

16.01.2022 This impressive structure was designed as a freestanding solution to hold eyebrow louvers (for shade) above this two story home in Penguin (Tasmania). The finished project added an artistic element to this gorgeous oceanfront home as well as a solution to their shade issues on the top floor. The next stage (part b) will see Adam constructing another frame (filled with walkway mesh) to suspend over the bottom half of the house. Finished with stainless steel turnbuckles and wires, this structure is the perfect blend of function and art. Custom made solutions by Ad's Fab's Tasmania. www.adsfabstasmania.com

14.01.2022 Our big ol doors. As some of you would know our big ol doors were heavy, and quite the challenge when it came to opening them. For the ease of tipsy wedding gu...ests something needed to be done So for the second time we reached out to locals Adam and Clarissa from Ad's Fab's - we love Adam and Clarissa. Adam lives and breathes all things metal. He’s a perfectionist who immerses himself in every job. Not only is he super skilled with creating new, but he also loves to repurpose old. Just check out the handles - but that’s a story for another post. It was important to keep our weathered corrugated aesthetic and also highlight the original rusty steel track at the top of the door frame. With an industrial nod to the old rollers, Adam created four fantastic giant rollers which now hang the new steel frame doors. Needless to say ‘master craftsman’ doesn’t do him justice - the man is an artist. Adam in shot for scale... and overall stokedness #wecanslidethedoorwithonefinger #grandentrance

13.01.2022 Adam started this gorgeous design for a bar/side table this week. The project centres around a piece of reclaimed wood that has been waiting many many years to be turned into functional art/furniture. We took inspiration from three other pieces in our customers home to get the process started. As is the nature of these projects, we are constantly questioning the position and placement of the metalwork to ensure we are maximising the effect and space we have to work with.... The FAB interlocking design will be carried through to the centre support panel as well, to be a standout feature. When we undertake a commission piece like this, we make sure our customers enjoy the design process with us, with lots of pics and messages along the way. (The process is as rewarding as the outcome). Watch this space. www.adsfabstasmania.com See more

13.01.2022 The open air Chapel looking FAB in a whole new 'light' @Sandridge Estate, Boat Harbour! Whilst we are on the subject of FAB things, a few weeks back, Adam and I had an absolute ball at the #ginfling held in the Big Ol' Shed. The night was , food and entertainment was exceptional and we came away gin converts (thanks to Bec and her superb gin blending skills ). Another highlight was watching the Big Ol' Doors slide open and shut all night long... thanks to the perfect seats (thanks Sam)! Never would we have thought doors opening and closing could be so satisfying . Highly highly recommend booking tickets to the next gin fling! See you there! #sandridgeestate #FunctionalMetalArt #adsfabstasmania

12.01.2022 Thanks Sandy, for sharing these snaps of your winter wonderland backyard in Launceston...featuring our organic garden seat and FAB pergola. Stunning!!!

12.01.2022 We are loving our new wood holder made by Ad’s Fab’s Tasmania. Happy birthday David Adam and Clarissa also made our beautiful balustrade at Boscobel.

12.01.2022 Custom made to match the curvy lines of a reclaimed wooden top. The design was also inspired by other pieces of furniture that the customer already had in their home. Another one off piece, handmade by Ad's Fab's Tasmania. www.adsfabstasmania.com

12.01.2022 Part b of the 'Eyebrow Louvre Project' complete! The materials used to construct this beautiful home, didn't allow for any structure to be fixed to the building itself. The owners spent years trying to find a company who were willing to tackle the complexities in finding a solution to adding shade to this side of the house. Finally, they contacted a little Tassie business called Ad's Fab's Tasmania! The norticle inspired finishes on this cantilevered project are perfect for this home overlooking the ocean here in Penguin, Tasmania. www.adsfabstasmania.com

09.01.2022 *The Sun Gate* Fully automated, solar powered entry gate with pin pad and remote controls. This statement piece 'The Sun Gate' was created with place and space in mind. Overlooking the stunning views of Boat Harbour Beach (here on the North West Coast) each element within the gate takes inspiration from its surroundings. The forged fishtail scroll work at the top depicts the clouds and hilltop skyline. The handmade double wraps along the bottom bars (in a wave like pattern) provide the obvious choice for the tapered moon shaped rings to cycle through. Finally, the center piece of this gate is the forged sun sculpture with large forged numbers. To ensure this feature had the 'pop' factor we not only twisted the metal length ways, but curved the rays outwards. Another one off project from Ad's Fab's Tasmania. www.adsfabstasmania.com

09.01.2022 This new concrete ramp required a solid handrail and infill that not only served a purpose but added value to the home. Made from 65x35x3RHS, 35x35x3RHS, 12mm solid square bar (straight and with alternating twists) as well as 10mm forged scroll-work (with flat ties). Powder coated and finished in ironstone colour, this piece looks as though it has always been there! www.adsfabstasmania.com

08.01.2022 Fire tongs, made to replicate another pair forged long ago. Blackened in oil whilst still hot, hammered from solid Australian steel. (This pair has been sent to a customer from Warwick, Qld- even the sunny state gets chilly this time of year ). www.adsfabstasmania.com

08.01.2022 It's a good time of the year for forging tools! Made from solid Australian steel, these tools will only need to be purchased once. www.adsfabstasmania.com

07.01.2022 The Big Ol' Doors are up and rolling better than ever... Always a pleasure working with this FAB family from Sandridge Estate! www.adsfabstasmania.com

06.01.2022 We have had some lovely feedback on our recent project, including from the creative customer herself! Working with Deb (a fellow artist) on this project was a privilege! Adam's structural and symmetrical way of thinking was challenged right to the very end. Instead of having one woman championing aesthetics, flow and 'feel' he had 2! As a result, he had the opportunity to perfect finishes and techniques like forged organic vine wraps and heavy tapered scrolls (over the anvil). Just look at that shepherd's hook!! We love love love it as well Deb! www.adsfabstasmania.com #funtionalmetalart #adsfabstasmania #designsinaction

06.01.2022 This boot unit looks super FAB at Paradise Road Farm! A great solution for keeping the mud outside and boots clean/stored. This new b&b in Sheffield will open in October and with stunning views of Mt Roland, it is sure to be super popular! Check out their gorgeous website at www.paradiseroadfarm.com.au (Also listed on 'Buy something Tasmanian' https://buysomethingtasmanian.com.au/bu/paradise-road-farm/)

05.01.2022 Taking balustrades and handrails to a whole new level of FAB! #adsfabstasmania #handmadeintasmania #Functionalmetalart

02.01.2022 Designs in action: Jess writes... "I love your work!" How amazing does the new design wood holder look all loaded up? With a double -shelf boot holder, FAB coat rack and boot scraper/pull, her entrance looks neat and organised! www.adsfabstasmania.com
