25.01.2022 I Melinda Hayes, would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who attended this years’ East Coast Classic National Championship, held at the Manor on Elizabeth in Wethrill Park. What a great weekend of dancing. I personally am so happy with how the event unfolded over the weekend. I just have a love for dancing and to create an event for the dancers. I would like to thank 3 major people who have made this weekend as amazing as it was. My husband Ian Ha...yes for all the hard work over the last 4 days and most of all putting up with my many moods. Stefano M Olivieri for all the help, support and the beautiful flowers from A & L Florist Steve, the owner of The Manor on Elizabeth. Nothing was a problem for him. He has an wonderful venue which I hope will be our home for many years to come. Thank you! Thank you to the ADS NSW Committee for all your hard work. Marinus de Roo, Marlene Hallewell, Matthew Potter, Beverly Gibbens, Jason Vella and Barry Wall. A big thank you to Sharon Courts (Gofer) you are amazing. Thank you for everything and some great brain storming meetings we had. Exciting times! Thank you Andrew and Michael on the music for the whole weekend with over 600 tracks. What a great job. Thank you to all the adjudicators who took the time out to come and judge. Thank you to the comperes Cushla Edwards & Phillip Lowder who kept the day sessions on time. Paul Green for always doing an amazing job on the Saturday night. Thank you Stewart & Margaret Coleman, Albert Sheilds, Steve Wiebe and Don Cox. Thank you so so so much to all the amazing sponsors. 17.01.2022 Dear Members, Competitors, Officials and Spectators, As you are almost certainly aware, Australia and the world are currently in the midst of a Coronavirus (COVID019) pandemic. A number of measures are currently being taken, both locally and internationally, to reduce the impact of this virus on individuals and communities. Whilst this is a rapidly evolving area, the Australian Dancing Society (ADS) acknowledges its role in this response, and it’s responsibility to ensure t...he safety and health of it’s competitors, adjudicators, spectators and other members alike. Hence, the ADS have engaged relevant professionals to provide advice, and are following recommendations from state departments of health. We ask that stakeholders assist us in these efforts and recommend the following: 1. FOLLOW guidance from local and federal health authorities, which regularly update their websites with information to help protect both yourself and others, includin - Australian Department of Health resources - Victorian DHHS resources - NSW DOH resources 2. DO NOT attend competitions/events, classes if: - You are advised to be in quarantine due to known close contact with a person confirmed to have COVID-19, OR are themselves in quarantine related to recent travel as advised by the Australian Department of Health guidelines (this currently includes Iran, mainland China, Italy, Republic of Korea but is subject to change). - Unwell with any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat. - Reconsider your attendance at competitions if you suffer from a medical condition that may make you vulnerable to more severe COVID-19, not limited to chronic lung disease, or a weakened immune system (eg. chemotherapy, immune suppression for autoimmune or inflammatory disease, bone marrow or organ transplantation). If you are uncertain, please contact your medical practitioner. 3. TAKE additional simple steps to protect yourself, your dance partner and/or ADS community members, including regular hand washing with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser, cough hygiene, and staying at home if you are not well. Unfortunately, it is possible that we may need to postpone or cancel some ADS events in the coming weeks/months, particularly due to the recommendations from the public health authorities around the conduction of mass gatherings. We are certainly hopeful to come up with alternative solutions but clearly we have a ‘duty of care’ to our members and stakeholders that we take very seriously. We can assure you that the Directors of the ADS will do their very best to communicate with our members and stakeholders in a timely fashion, if and when this may need to occur. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may cause, and appreciate your understanding. We look forward to us working together during this very challenging time. Barry White, President Adam Blakey, Managing Director
