21.01.2022 It's been great to receive positive updates from members making the most of their current situation. John from Learn to Drive Driving School has been making excellent use of his new free schedule. Here’s what he’s been up to John is making sure he keeps his regular routine by waking up at the same time each day and getting all of the thinking / paperwork done in the morning, and then enjoys some exercise in the afternoon. ... John’s been studying up on how to improve social media for his business and has also been creating new content for his website and advertising platform. John’s also started his tax return early this year. He recommends completing some of your tax return yourself to save some money - you can have a look on Google or Youtube for some tips on how to cut down your accountancy fees. John also recommends checking the NSW TAFE website for courses (some free!) available online including: Bookkeeping Social Media, Excel, and more. The time John is saving on getting a head start on paperwork and business admin will mean he has lots of extra time to book additional work in once we return to normal Feel free to keep us posted on what you’ve been up to, we would love to keep the positivity flowing
20.01.2022 We have recently been chatting with Kerry from the Sunshine Coast who is a part of the not for profit company, "Murri’s on the Move. Murri’s mission is to provide skills and educational training to young people (particularly within the Indigenous community) to help them obtain their licence at subsided rates. Training delivery is culturally appropriate and empowering to those who are disadvantaged or struggling to get their P’s. This inspiring company is a huge blessing... to the community and they are doing an incredible job assisting those who may never have been able to achieve their licence without help. While greatly professional, the instructors / office staff are equally kind, caring and love being able to make a difference to those in need. We applaud their beautifully put together and easy to navigate website - check it out here! https://www.motm.org.au Just prior to the COVID outbreak in March, Kerry attended a Consultancy Group Forum in Cairns (also attended by our awesome Townsville Director, Heath Ward) along with a range of other representatives. The view was to brainstorm and cultivate ideas to get around barriers that the Indigenous community face when going for their L’s, driving lessons and of course testing. Kerry relayed that the Forum was very well presented and well received by attendees, with great networking opportunity too. Check out this little video that sums up the Forum and let us know what you think! https://vimeo.com/397459821 Great work Kerry and the team, we look forward to seeing Murri’s on the Move get back to work and doing what they love most!
20.01.2022 This week, we wanted to show case business owner Guru of Guru Driving School whom runs a successful company based in Sydney NSW in which he operates with the help of his wife and family. We feel his business model is very well established with the company delivering everything from pre driver assessments, Safer Drivers Courses, various lesson packages and the Keys2Drive Program. A bit about Guru... Along with Driver Training, Guru delivers group sight seeing tours around Sy...dney in his buses which his son primarily charters. We were pleased to hear that Guru awards free tours sporadically throughout the year to elderly citizens - it’s these generous little touches that people love and keeps them coming back! Unfortunately the tours have been put on hold due to Covid, however as soon as restrictions start to ease and things continue to return to normal, the tours will be back up and running. While things in this department have been quiet, the team have been working on fine-tuning the delivery of their Safer Drivers Courses which are now back in full swing. Surprisingly (as if he isn’t busy enough!) Guru is also a social worker and has been able to see many of his clients complete their hours and obtain their licence through the company which he feels has been very rewarding. What makes Guru Driving School great... It is important to remember that there are many factors that contribute to growing and evolving your business. Website / social media presence is imperative - have a look at Guru’s here https://www.gurudrivingschool.com.au Along with his impeccable website, Guru keeps up to date with social media advertising and promoting which we strongly recommend to all business owners. Another aspect we love about Guru’s business is the professionalism and well kept ness of his staff and their vehicles. Each car is the same colour (red) with signage and branding displayed to keep the continuity in theme. We have noticed that each time we have met with the team, their uniforms are always immaculate and the vehicles are always spick and span too. Again, this type of attention to detail is what commands respect and creates trust between the driving school and the clients / parents. Each instructor is also required to deliver the same structure of lesson to each student which again keeps the same level continuity going. Guru has found that the above, as well as monthly meetings with his staff and the consistency of strategies in place are what keeps students coming back from their very first lesson, all the way to obtaining their licences. This has overall paid off greatly, and has lead Guru Driving School to win various awards for their outstanding work in the community. As you can imagine, with 17 employees under his belt plus his social work and tour guides, Guru is a very busy man! We hope you treat your amazing wife to regular date nights Guru

16.01.2022 Have you registered for JobKeeper yet? The application process will close on April 30 so be sure to get in and get it done before the closing date. Please note "registering interest" does not mean you have successfully enrolled - there is an online application form which needs to be submitted.... If you are unsure if you have registered properly, you can check your MyGov account or call the direct hotline 1800 806 218. We spoke with ADTA Member Raelene this week (from Excel to P's) who has completed the application and was pleased to report her experience registering for JobKeeper was a smooth and simple process. Raelene began by registering interest via the ADTA link, and when the online enrolment form became available she completed the following steps: Log in to MyGov Clicked on ATO Link Selected Employment Jobkeeper Enrol Provide necessary info (including ABN, TFN and 2018/2019 tax return) Submit She has not yet received her first payment, however this is to be expected due to the high volume of applications being currently processed. Hope this is helpful, keeping our fingers crossed that you will start receiving your payments ASAP!
16.01.2022 We hope everyone is staying safe and well and getting ready to start getting back into the groove of every day life! As you may know, we have been reaching out to our Members to check in with them and see what they have been up to. This story made our hearts all warm and fuzzy ... One of our awesome Members (Tony) works between the Driver Trainers Industry as well as in an Aged Care retirement village. Tony has stopped instructing for a while due to COVID-19 however is still working at the retirement village and is passionate about bringing a smile to all of the residents faces. This includes dressing up entertaining them and not being afraid to look a bit silly Tony explained the joy it brings to those who are looking sad or anxious is well worth a moment of folly! As you can imagine, it has been a taxing time on the residents with family members being unable to visit the village due to restrictions. As Tony is a builder by trade, he built a perspex screen (affectionally known as the Window of Love!) so that family members can still come and visit their loved ones. Talk about innovative! The residents and the families have been so grateful for this experience and it has been so positively received by all. Lastly, Tony has been encouraging the residents to get in touch with their tech side and get onto FaceTime which he said has been helping greatly. Although our current situation is challenging, I think we can all agree we are so blessed to be able to stay connected during this digital age. We feel that all Health Care workers are absolute Angels and are so grateful for those looking after our elderly during this pandemic. Thanks Tony and all the other Angels caring for those in need while we continue to #flattenthecurve
