22.01.2022 Prime Miinister Scott Morrison made it clear at last week’s Advance Cairns luncheon that the Cairns region is front and centre in the thinking of the Federal Government as it leads the nation through the COVID-19 pandemic. For those members who could not make the luncheon the following link gives you an insight. Great job by the team at Oaks Cairns Hotel, also a new member of Advance Cairns. https://vimeo.com/468497148/1dbc4bd065

21.01.2022 Great news to have bi-partisan support for the Cairns University Hospital. The LNP announcement today confirms $15m to buy land and goes a step further with a $5m commitment to a full business case - as well as support for a Level 6 renal transplant facility in Cairns.

17.01.2022 Good first step from the QLD Government today with the $30m announcement towards upgrades at Cairns port to aid in the pursuit of all important marine maintenance jobs. The commitment is only the first step in a long-term play where the Government will need to contribute at least another $120m - after completion of a business case announced by the Premier as part of the $30m package - towards enabling infrastructure at the port. The NT Government has committed $400m to its precinct in a bold bid to maximise marine maintenance work in Darwin - so the challenge is out there.

13.01.2022 Prime Minister Scott Morrison gave the FNQ region assurance it will always be top of mind during the COVID-19 recovery during the Advance Cairns luncheon today. For more than 40 minutes he outlined the Federal Government’s firm belief that economic recovery is underway and with support the private sector will step up and create many more jobs.

01.01.2022 Congrats Michael on your new role with FNQROC and well done on your advocacy on behalf of Douglas Shire to the PM
