23.01.2022 If you have had a massage with Paul recently he has spoken about the Vagus Nerve and has used a technique to help stimulate it to move from fight or flight to rest and restore. This calms the body and enhances healing which is why he has been using it. This article talks about what science is discovering about this amazing part of the body.

20.01.2022 The weather is warming and the days are longer. This generally means extra gardening activities. Due to an increase in garden activities such as digging and bending this can cause added stress on the body creating restriction in movement, stiffness in joints and pain. It is important to listen to our body and be aware when a movement feels restricted, any stiffness in our joints or if there is any particular movement that produces pain. Whilst maintaining our gardens we need to maintain our body. Paul can help you maintain your body with Remedial Massage to help reduce restriction, stiffness and pain.

19.01.2022 In a time of uncertainty here is some great advice with solid science to back it up. Stay safe Paul and Deb

19.01.2022 This is an unfortunate reality for those who serve us. I have found through personal experience as a treating therapist that many times the treatment outcomes are substantially better when Remedial Massage is added to the treatment plan. This experience has come across many years of treating defence force personnel and seeing the outcomes of treatment from Remedial Massage. It really does bridge the gap where other treatments fail.

19.01.2022 Scans have the potential to be more problematic than helpful.

17.01.2022 Finally some honesty about the safety of cortisone injections. They are not the safe option that you are encouraged to believe.

01.01.2022 Life is about movement and muscles are the movers of the body. When back pain is present it stops you from moving freely. Movements like rotation, lifting or bending are inhibited and painful. Even walking, which has its origins in the back, can be slow and painful. When this occurs the muscles become contracted reducing movement and can spasm going into a strong contraction. Remedial Massage is a treatment designed to lengthen contracted muscles improving movement and redu...cing pain. If you have found that other treatments have failed in returning your life to normal then Remedial Massage may be the answer to regaining your quality of life. At Advanced Remedial Massage Therapies we are a results driven practice so the outcomes of treatment are important to us. We want to help you achieve the results you are looking for. Advanced Remedial Massage Therapies 60920070 ...because results matter.

01.01.2022 Every manual therapy and personal training practice should have this updated poster about back pain. Highlight: Back to basics: 10 facts every person should kn...ow about back pain Fact 1: LBP is not a serious life-threatening medical condition. Fact 2: Most episodes of LBP improve and LBP does not get worse as we age. Fact 3: A negative mindset, fear-avoidance behaviour, negative recovery expectations, and poor pain coping behaviours are more strongly associated with persistent pain than is tissue damage. Fact 4: Scans do not determine prognosis of the current episode of LBP, the likelihood of future LBP disability, and do not improve LBP clinical outcomes. Fact 5: Graduated exercise and movement in all directions is safe and healthy for the spine. Fact 6: Spine posture during sitting, standing and lifting does not predict LBP or its persistence. Fact 7: A weak core does not cause LBP, and some people with LBP tend to overtense their core muscles. While it is good to keep the trunk muscles strong, it is also helpful to relax them when they arent needed. Fact 8: Spine movement and loading is safe and builds structural resilience when it is graded. Fact 9: Pain flare-ups are more related to changes in activity, stress and mood rather than structural damage. Fact 10: Effective care for LBP is relatively cheap and safe. This includes: education that is patient-centred and fosters a positive mindset, and coaching people to optimise their physical and mental health (such as engaging in physical activity and exercise, social activities, healthy sleep habits and body weight, and remaining in employment) Thank you Dr. Peter OSullivan, Dr. Mary OKeeffe, Dr. Kieran OSullivan, and the entire team. https://bjsm.bmj.com//early/2019/12/31/bjsports-2019-101611
