17.01.2022 Eating too much sugar can lead to tooth decay. The question we should always ask ourselves is "Did i eat too much sugar today?" It is not the sugar itself that causes the damage rather the chain of events that takes place after. The mouth is full of different kinds of bacteria, many of which are beneficial but some which are bad that feed on the sugars creating an acidic environment. Such an environment leads to the destruction of tooth enamel, which is the shiny protective outer layer of the tooth. Constant vigilance is the key to preventing any negative side effects of sugar on teeth. It is very important to not only encourage ourselves but our kids to limit their sugar intake, brushing on a regular basis and consumption of foods that strengthen our teeth.

08.01.2022 A dental check-up involves addressing the patient’s chief complaint, concerns and expectations that should be of value by the dental practitioner. The clinician evaluates any possible predisposing conditions that may affect the prognosis, progression and management of the oral health condition through careful review of the dental and medical history of the patient. 04.01.2022 No Dentist, No Problem A lot of change has come into people’s lives during this time of COVID-19 even going to see the dentist! A few weeks ago, it was recommended that all routine treatment be postponed to limit the spread of COVID-19. But this does not mean looking after those healthy teeth stops! https://mailchi.mp/9fd31fe13676/no-dentist-no-problem

01.01.2022 So what happens during a Dental Check Up at AMDS? The dentist carries out a full examination of your mouth, teeth and gums . They may also carry out any tests or x-rays that you may require. Ask about your general health and any problems that you may have with your teeth, gums or mouth since your last visit. ... Ask about and give advice regarding diet, smoking or drinking. Ask about your teeth cleaning habits and provide advice regarding the best ways to keep your gums, teeth and mouth healthy. Explain any risks involved as well treatment costs for any treatment provided. It is very important that we visit the dentist every six months even if you brush and floss regularly. Regular dental visits will allow the clinician to monitor your mouth for any early signs of problems such as dental decay, gum disease, misaligned teeth and many more.
