23.01.2022 What is Heart Rate Variability and what does it tell us about our brain health? If you’re suffering from unexplained fatigue, anxiety or stress, you may fin...d someanswers in your Heart Rate Variability (HRV). HRV measures the variation and intervals between your heart beats within a certain time frame, and has a strong connection to our Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). Our ANS is responsible for regulating many of our basic bodily functions, including heart and respiration rate, and digestion. There are two main systems involved in maintaining a healthy balance in our ANS; the parasympathetic (rest and digest) and the sympathetic (fight/flight/fright). HRV is an indicator that both systems are functioning and responding to the environment efficiently. Parasympathetic activity lowers our heart rate, allowing for more variation between our heart beats resulting in a higher HRV. When at rest, this is ideal and indicates that the ANS is appropriately responding to the environment.Sympathetic activity increases our heart rate, allowing for less variation betweenour heart beats resulting in a lower HRV. When at rest, this is not ideal and indicates that the ANS is not modulating the heart efficiently to respond to the environment. If you are interested in having a HRV assessment sent me a message and we can organise one for you.

12.01.2022 PART 2/3: How can Laser Therapy help me? Firstly, Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) must be calibrated to the optimal frequency and wavelength for the cells to abs...orb the light energy. Secondly, Mitochondria are the cellular power plants in our cells and as such they convert food molecules and oxygen into energy (ATP) by oxidative phosphorylation. In other words, the mitochondria is part of the cell which helps produce more energy and this enables the cells to work harder and longer to repair the damage that has happened around the area. Thirdly, LLLT has short, medium and long term effects. 06.01.2022 *RETAINED PRIMITIVE REFLEXES - MORO REFLEX* Is you child anxious? Hyperactive? Impulsive? or Hypersensitive? If so, then they may have a retained Moro Reflex! R...ead on to find out more about The Moro Reflex, and check out the video below! The Moro Reflex, also known as the startle reflex is the first instance of the fight, flight, fright response to any perceived threat. It emerges at 9 weeks in utero and should be integrated by 2-4 months. The Moro Reflex is a whole body response to sudden changes in vestibular, movement, auditory, visual or tactile stimuli. When retained or poorly integrated, it is characterised by hypersensitivity, hyperactivity, poor impulse control, sensory overload, and social and emotional immaturity. This makes makes it difficult for a child to sleep well, learn, play, and thrive in their day-to-day life! If you have any questions send me a message ;)

02.01.2022 Quick explanation on some causes (not all) of how long term back pain can occur, what needs to appen to get out of pain and what needs to happen to make sure it... never comes back. Please be aware that this is by no means comprehensive, there can be many other sources and causes of back pain, this is just a 101 on some of the more common mechanisms (and yes I have the research to back it up). Any questions send me a message :)

01.01.2022 Lyme Disease paper talking about POTS = feeling excessively lightheaded after standing up. Here is the summary, Enjoy; - Lyme disease is generally treated succe...ssfully with anti-biotics although patients (sometimes years) later develop a syndrome of fatigue, joint pain and cognitive dysfunction (post treatment LD syndrome). - Study involved 5 patients who are sufferings POTS symptoms, post-treatment of LD (successful treatment with anti-biotics; asymptomatic for 2-12 years). - Treatment protocols included: o Tilt table therapy o Increased dietary fluids and sodium o If the above were ineffective, pharmacotherapy was initiated in a sequence generally consisting of fludrocortisone, midodrine, methylphenidate, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors, pyridostigmine, and erythropoietin, either alone or in combination - Response to treatment: o All patients demonstrated a good response o Orthostatic symptoms (especially fatigue) improved in all o Syncope resolved in 3 patients; and less severe in 2 o 4/5 patients able to engage in ADLs and resume employment/school See more
