24.01.2022 MEMBER OF THE MONTH Please join us in congratulating this super star on her AMAZING achievements!! Elizabeth Jeffrey joined Advance Fitness Sunbury in March 2019 for our Zumba class ... She initially started with the goals of losing weight and toning up and she has absolutely smashed them goals plus some!! Elizabeth has currently lost a WHOPPING 17kgs!!! Elizabeth says that she is feeling fantastic both physically and mentally. My body image has improved and I feel more confident about myself and the clothes I wear. I have increased my mental health and energy as well. Elizabeth enjoys the positive atmosphere at Advance Fitness and the guidance that is provided. "The staff are always willing to help and always encouraging and supportive!" Along with daily exercise, Elizabeth has also improved her diet. "I reduced the amount of bread, sugar and alcohol I was consuming and started eating more home grown vegetables." Elizabeth has a natural motivation to train as she enjoys it. She has seen what an active and healthy lifestyle can do for her physical and mental health and she wont be stopping now! We have had lots of fun in the pool this past week, celebrating our swimming advancements, finding our cheeky swimming elf and the mischief he got up to around the pool as well as counting down our sleeps until Christmas Day arrives!... 16.01.2022 We would love to give a huge shout out to our lovely member KRISTEN WESCOTT! Kristen has recently been diagnosed with an inflamed hip and has been told to stop weight training but to continue with cardio if she wants to. Kristen has not only continued her cardio workouts a few times a week, she has been coming into the gym 5 days a week for 90 minutes sessions!!!... Since joining Advance Fitness Sunbury, Kristen is feeling stronger and believes her stress levels are at an all-time low!! Her absolute dedication and motivation to keep fit and healthy is mind blowing and we could not be prouder of her. Kristen is extremely self-motivated; she is enjoying the friendly atmosphere here at Advance Fitness and is motivated to continue her fitness journey. Keep up the good work Kristen. However, we have now been included with a lot of other industries that are allowed to reopen on the 26th of October if numbers are met. We don’t know the extent of the restrictions that will be required for re-opening but we’ll keep everyone posted as soon as we ...know more . We know gyms can open and operate safely with a robust COVID-Safe plan in place. 12.01.2022 Do you get to the end of the night after a long day and just want to relax with a cup of tea and a biscuit? We do! That is why we went on the hunt for some simple and tasty cookies we could make that were not full of refined sugar and additives!! BEHOLD... Healthy DOUBLE chocolate cookies with only 54 calories per piece ... This recipe was found by one of our staff members and she gives them a 10/10!! Ingredients: 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract 1 tablespoon vegan butter or coconut oil 1/4 cup raw honey 1/4 cup dark 70% chocolate chips (we used Noshu chocolate chips) 1 1/3 cups spelt flour or gluten free all purpose baking flour 2 tablespoons raw cocoa powder or regular cocoa powder 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt Method: Preheat oven to 175. In a bowl whisk eggs and vanilla. In a small saucepan melt butter (or coconut oil) with the dark chocolate chips and the honey. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and whisk until combined. Add in dry ingredients (flour, cocao powder baking powder and soda, and salt), and stir until a smooth cookie batter is achieved. Cover a baking pan with parchment paper. Scoop tablespoon sized portions of the batter into balls and press down lightly to flatten. Bake cookies for 8 minutes until just puffy. Let cool completely then drizzle with some melted chocolate chips if you like Feel free to let our staff members taste test them

11.01.2022 Who LOVES chocolate brownies but hates the guilt after eating them?? Look no further because we have tried and tested these gooey sweet potato brownies for you and trust us.... They are AHMAZING!! Ingredients: 1 cup sweet potato purée 2/3 cup maple syrup... 1/2 cup almond butter or peanut butter 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 Tbsp avocado oil (or sub melted vegan butter, melted coconut oil, or olive oil) 1/2 cup cocoa powder or cacao powder 1/4 tsp sea salt 1 tsp baking powder 2/3 cup oat flour 1/2 cup chopped raw pecans or walnuts 1/4 cup dairy-free chocolate chips (optional) Method: Pre-heat your oven to 176 C and line an 88-inch baking pan (or similar-size pan) with baking paper. In a large mixing bowl, add sweet potato purée, maple syrup, almond butter, vanilla extract, and avocado oil and stir to combine. Add cacao powder, sea salt, and baking powder and stir to combine. Emily has been with Advance Fitness Sunbury since June 2017. She initially started up to get stronger, improve her mental health and increase her fitness as she has aspirations of being in the Police Force!... Since joining, Emily has seen more muscle tone and is feeling a whole lot stronger which has improved her body image drastically and it has also assisted in getting Emily into the Police Academy!!! The positive environment had Emily coming back but it was the awesome Group Fitness Instructors that keep her coming back for more... Em gets her motivation from herself. She has a strong mindset and exercise makes her feel amazing. Staying active and healthy will keep her focussed and on the right path to reaching her fitness goals.. After so many months of being in lockdown, our gym @advancefitnessgyms in Sunbury have opened its doors this week. What an absolute happiness being back in the gym and seeing these bunch today! Even though Group Fitness classes are capped to 10 people at this stage, I must say our first face to face class was full of fun, laughter and lots of sweat! (like how it should be!)

Keep your elbows pointed straight down 4. Squeeze your lats/think of pulling from your armpits 5. Lower bar to your chin or just below Common mistakes to avoid Pulling bar behind neck (shortening range of motion and missing important part of the exercise) Pulling down past your chest (disengages lats and causes shoulder to come forward) Using momentum (If you need momentum to pull weight down then it’s too heavy)

01.01.2022 ITS BEGINNING TO LOOK ALOT LIKE CHRISTMAS Christmas is a time to celebrate family, friends and FOOD!!! We don't know about you guys, but we can not wait to eat some yummy treats with family.... BUT - just because it is Christmas, doesn't mean the calories don't count We have found this HEALTHIER Christmas Trifle. Our mouth is already watering just thinking about it!! INGREDIENTS: * 9g sachet Aeroplane Jelly Lite Raspberry * 375g fresh strawberries plus extra * 2 tablespoons lemon juice * 2 tablespoons sugar-free maple syrup * 175g sponge finger biscuits broken into 2cm pieces * 250g fresh raspberries CHOCOLATE CUSTARD INGREDIENTS: * 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder * 1 1/2 tablespoons cornflour * 2 egg yolks * 2 cups skim milk * 1/4 cup sugar-free maple syrup METHOD: Step 1 Prepare the jelly following packet directions. Cover and place in the fridge for 4 hours or until set. Use a fork to roughly break up the jelly. Step 2 To make the custard - sift the cocoa and cornflour into a large bowl. Add the egg yolks and 1/4 cup of the milk. Whisk until smooth. Place the remaining milk in a saucepan and heat over medium heat until simmering. Slowly add the hot milk to the egg mixture, whisking constantly, until smooth and well combined. Transfer the mixture to a clean saucepan and cook, stirring, over low heat until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon. Stir in the maple syrup. Transfer to a bowl. Cover the surface of the custard with plastic wrap. Set aside to cool, then place in the fridge for 2-3 hours or until chilled. Step 3 Place the sliced strawberries in a bowl with the lemon juice and maple syrup. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes to macerate. Step 4 To assemble the trifle, place half the sponge finger biscuits in the base of a 2L serving dish. Top with half the macerated strawberries, half the raspberries, half the custard and then half the jelly. Continue layering with the remaining biscuits, macerated strawberries, raspberries and custard. Top with the remaining jelly and the whole strawberries. Place in the fridge until ready to serve.
