14.01.2022 Everyone is buzzing about the Netflix doco, The Game Changer at the moment. Jacinta, our nutritionist have a few tips for you if you are thinking about plant based diet. 1. Jump on the bandwagon of meat free Monday and aim to have a completely meat free meal once a week. Some easy options for the whole family to get on board are Mexican tacos (made with a bean chilli mix) or chickpea/lentil burgers. 2. Aim to get in the equivalent of a half plate of salad/veg at lunch AND d...inner. 3. Swap out your meat for tofu (or even just swap to half meat/half tofu) in your favourite stir fry recipe - tofu is high in protein and can be a great source of calcium as well. Don’t forget to add some herbs/spices/marinade - tofu takes on which ever flavours you cook it in! 4. Aim to snack on nuts more regularly - we need about 2-3x 30g serves/week. Nuts are a great source of protein and anti-inflammatory fats. 5. Incorporate more legumes/lentils into the diet --> add red kidney beans into Mexican dishes / mash lentils/chickpeas into minced meat / sprinkle four bean mix into salads. Legumes are a great source of protein and fibre. #meatfree #thegamechanger #plantbased #goodhealthtips #diettips
