24.01.2022 At AdvantEdge Tennis, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. Following the current advice from the Federal government in regards to COVID-19, we are continuing to conduct coaching sessions with extra attention given to personal hygiene. The best prevention of transmission is hand-washing so we ask that each student please wash their hands with soap at the toilets inside the club rooms prior to and after the coaching sessions.... We will continue to sanitise equipment and will be providing anti-bacterial wipes for students to use throughout their lesson. If you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with unwell individuals we ask that you do not attend any tennis sessions scheduled. As per Federal direction, if you have returned from travelling overseas in the last 2 weeks we ask that you do not attend coaching sessions over the next 2 weeks of the tennis term. Please know that we are monitoring all Australian government updates and will make decisions accordingly and will keep all our students and parents updated in a timely manner. We appreciate your support during this current state and urge everyone to continue to get outdoors and be active and optimistic. Happy Hitting Ben Longridge AdvantEdge Tennis

17.01.2022 This has brightened up my day!!!

16.01.2022 We all know tennis is a unique sport with many benefits the main one being health and wellbeing. The very nature of our game ensures there is a vital role our sport can continue to play for the benefit of the community as we endure the COVID-19 pandemic. For tennis to remain open, every one of us needs to play our part!! With lessons continuing this week (for now), the following further precautionary measures are being put in place, at the advice of our governing body, Tenn...is Australia: Maximum 4 people per court (in line with social distancing measures); Maximum 1 parent/guardian per student to accompany student at tennis venue; Students are expected to arrive just before their lesson and leave the venue straight after the conclusion of their lesson. We do not want students hanging around the club unnecessarily; Anyone with flu-like symptoms will be disallowed to participate. Please refrain from sending your child or attending the courts yourself should anyone possess any signs of illness; Hand washing will be mandatory for all students upon both arrival and departure from the venue. If you would like to take this opportunity to tee up a private lesson or two over the coming weeks, feel free to enquire with us directly. Id imagine kids are going to become quite restless being at home from school for who knows how long!! Tennis might be that one outdoor sporting activity that your kids can continue for the time being! Our Holiday Program is still going ahead at this stage, but with 6 courts we can only take a maximum of 24 students. First in best dressed. Everyone stay safe and keep being hyper vigilant around each other and in terms of hygienic best practices. The AdvantEdge Tennis Team

12.01.2022 Hey Everyone, I’m pleased to announce, off the back of our highly successful Winter Tournament, the upcoming AdvantEdge Tennis Junior & Senior Pre-Xmas Tournament. **This is relevant for Green Ball competition players or higher!!!... Dates: 21st - 23rd December, 2020 With no ETA on the resumption of JTs or AMTs, it is only prudent that we provide this forum for players to get as much quality match practice as possible, prior to the year ending. If you were a fan of our tournament last time, I encourage you to share this event with your peers and anyone else who you think would be interested in getting the much needed match play we have missed out on over the last 6 months or so. Here’s the link to our simple entry form: https://forms.gle/TDEFKJzXca5dpWCSA Once again, we will utilise the Tennis Australia Tournament Software for the running of the tournament. Thanks again for your support.

11.01.2022 TENNIS IS BACK ON **Read Carefully** It is with great pleasure that I can announce that tennis lessons are BACK ON!!! It has been a turbulent few days but Tennis Australia have been in touch with the Federal Government and are now encouraging coaches and tennis clubs alike to continue to keep their venues open for tennis lessons and social play. ... Tuesday 24th March HEPS Hot Shots 8:20-8:50am **to be held at HE Parker Reserve Tennis Club (154 Heathmont Rd, Heathmont), as school will be closed; 4pm & 4:45pm classes (including Match Play) at HE Parker; Private lessons as negotiated with students respective Coach. Wednesday 25th March All group lessons and squads at both venues have finished for Term 1; Private lessons will continue as negotiated with students respective Coach. Cardio Tennis is still on at both venues; Thursday 26th March All group classes are double lessons, as we missed 2 classes during the Term; 4pm & 4:45pm classes will run 4-5:30pm (with no Match Play); 5:30pm squad will run 5:30-7:30pm (with no Match Play); Private lessons will continue as negotiated with students respective Coach; 2pm 4yo Hot Shots class finished for the Term; Adult squad to continue as normal. We at AdvantEdge Tennis will be following the guidelines and recommendations of Tennis Australia, with the safety of all students as our number one focus. We are very lucky to have this opportunity to continue (for now), especially since our students probably arent going to have many other opportunities to get active over the coming weeks or potentially months. That said, we also understand and accept everyones personal views and subsequent actions with regards to attending our classes.

11.01.2022 YES!! WE’RE BACK!! 07.01.2022 COVID-19 Update for AdvantEdge Tennis For those of you who are not aware of the latest updates from the Victorian Government (see https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-nsw-victoria-/12079124), please note that tomorrow, Monday 23rd March, will be the last day of tennis lessons for Term 1. Schools, along with all other non-essential businesses, will be closed from Tuesday 24th March onwards and I suspect wont re-open until at least 20th April. ... So to be clear, no lessons will be conducted after tomorrow, and such lessons will be suspended until further notice. Therefore, no invoices are going to be sent out for Term 2 at this stage, and our Holiday Program is also cancelled. Those who have already paid for the holiday program will be reimbursed or given credits to our next program (whenever that will be). This state of affairs is very sad and to be honest, quite confronting. Therefore, myself and the rest of the AdvantEdge Tennis Coaching Team are going to try to post several educational and potentially comical videos to keep our students and parents entertained during this downturn. We wish everyone the best of health and we will hopefully be back up and running sooner rather than later. Best Regards, Ben Longridge AdvantEdge Tennis

03.01.2022 I feel the need to share this particular experience of whats now going to go down in history.... In the first round of the World Individual Championships over here in Miami, Florida, I was pushed beyond my expectations and my bodys limitations. What could pose as a regulation 7-6(9) 2-6 6-7(7) loss, turned out to be anything but that! This epic battle between myself and my Japanese opponent went for a ridiculous 5 hrs 17 mins!!! In fairness, that included a 10 min break bet...ween the 2nd and 3rd sets, and another 10 mins at 6-5 in the 3rd set, when my opponent had to be treated by medics for heat exhaustion and severe stomach pain. The doctor said he was so dehydrated that his pancreas was basically eating itself. It was brutal out there; inhumane in fact. Our match started at 8:30am and finished at 1:47pm. Conditions were more than uncomfortable, being a 33 degree day, 88% humidity and a feels like temperature of 39 degrees. It wasnt about winning; it was more about survival. Although I should have won the match, especially being up 5-2 in the final tie-breaker, I could not have been happier for my opponent. He was in tears for 15 mins after the game. Neither of us could have given any more than we did I know a lot of players who would have checked out early and defaulted before the match ended. In fact, the withdrawal numbers over here are through the roof!!! Anyway, heres some photos from the match. He actually videoed the match too, however his phone died after about 4 hours of play Plus I ripped a layer of skin off my forehead from wiping it with a towel for that long! Didnt know that was possible... Oh, AND later that afternoon I got to play (AND WIN) mixed doubles with my long-time doubles partner Jamie, representing Australia together Im really not sure how the pros do it day in day out I will never forget this experience thats for sure!

01.01.2022 Solid advice #makeeverypointcount
