19.01.2022 Great news from Sharon Sharp of @whalesorg WDC - The Port River Dolphins. We were fortunate to catch up with Doc today and whilst he still looks thin, his behaviour appeared greatly improved. We observed him for close to half an hour and during this time he was travelling and diving (hopefully fishing), he didn't stop to rest at all. So much more energised than a few days ago. Thank you to the Rangers for putting up a couple of Do not feed dolphins signs at Garden Island las...t week, its important the message gets out to the public, especially as Doc is spending plenty of time in this area. We also saw Mouse, Squeak, Crystal and Happy, the youngsters were socialising while Mouse was feeding. We had the same situation last week whilst out on our WDC Survey. The third Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary census will make an import...ant contribution to National Parks and Wildlife South Australia’s understanding of dolphin numbers and health over time. Around 20 groups or individuals are needed to cover the observation sites for an hour on 17 October. The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is located in the Port River and Barker Inlet. 06.01.2022 This is devastating. I had noticed mangroves that were appearing stressed in the Garden Island area and was concerned. The mangroves are the engine room or the Port River estuary. If they suffer all other life in the estuary is at risk. Urgent research required.
