23.01.2022 Repost from IG @kokodatrail_bookproject Kokoda Trail, Papua New Guinea Thank you to Charlie, Jill, Tracie, Donald and the @adventure_kokoda family for gifting each of my three children, the next generation, with their own copy of #RosesAtEoraCreek . Means so much to see them read this special book that I wrote, and the very important message it speaks to about the need for ethical and sustainable work conditions for their wantoks employed in the wartime trek tourism industry of Kokoda Trail. A fitting way to bring in PNGs 45th Independence Day on Wednesday 16 September. Tenkyu tru @adventure_kokoda femili - @rashmiibell

22.01.2022 We were honoured to share the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of VP Day at the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway, Concord with two special Kokoda veterans, Reg Chard and Lloyd Birdsall. A glance over some notes by Geoffrey Hamlyn-Harris, a stretcher bearer on the Kokoda Trail, provides a good insight into the reality experienced by Reg, Lloyd and their mates - experiences we should never forget: Mud and blood . . . the pity of it. The best blood of Australia, and mud . . ...Continue reading

22.01.2022 New Guinea rises sheer out of the Pacific like some vast thing crouching to spring. It is fiercely beautiful, but a dangerous land, New Guinea Natures last ...stronghold luring the white civilisation she dreads. New Guinea - Land of sudden death and delirious happenings tragic despair! Land of vivid colour in herself and the deeds of her people! The sun shines across the deep gorges onto mountain peaks hedged by jungle and sombre with scrub. 18.01.2022 Repost from IG @kokodatrail_bookproject Kokoda Trail, Papua New Guinea As Papua New Guineas 45th Independence Day on September 16 nears, celebrate with a copy of #RosesAtEoraCreek written by Papua New Guinean author, Rashmii Bell . ... 17.01.2022 Adventure Kokoda sharing Charlie Lynns post - Great to see the PNG Investment Promotion Authority cracking down on Foreign Enterprises - Adventure Kokoda is one of only two Australian trekking companies who are registered as an authorised Foreign Enterprise. Prospective trekkers should check to see if the company they choose is registered with the IPA before lodging their deposit otherwise they could be in for an unpleasant surprise on arrival in Port Moresby. Its easy to check - just go to the IPA website and type in the name of the company - if it doesnt come up the principle of caveat-emptor (let the buyer beware) should apply. https://postcourier.com.pg/hoot-warns-about-dealing-with-d/

17.01.2022 Thanks for the great comments from Lorry Rule who trekked on Charlies Anzac trek in 2019. Lorry received Charlies book 100 Treks Across The Kokoda Trail and we look forward to her sharing her thoughts. "So privileged to have trekked the Kokoda with this amazing human. His knowledge of the trail, leadership skills and commitment to assisting the Papau New Guinean people, is second to none. One trek put me completely out of my comfort zone, was mentally and physically challenging, and took an enormous amount of training and recovery. I can not fathom completing the trek 100 times! Highly recommended this read to everyone! Truly an inspiration to all."

16.01.2022 Sharing a post from Adventure Kokoda Trek Leader, Peter Morrison: This day in history - Battle of Isurava on the Kokoda Trail begins. One of, if not the most significant of the campaign. On 26 August the Japanese clashed with the 39th battalions forward outposts at Isurava heralding that their next attack was developing. ... The same day the first two companies of the 2/14th Battalion arrived to relieve the 39ths exhausted young soldiers, the average age of whom was 18 and had been fighting the Japanese for the past few weeks. Outnumbered, Exhausted, hungry, many racked with malaria and dysentery. The next afternoon the 39ths left flank was heavily attacked and while the Japanese were able to penetrate one of the company positions, they were beaten off by two quick counter-attacks. Fighting swirled all around the forward arc of the position throughout 28 August as the Japanese sought a weakness in the Australian defences to exploit. The Australians inflicted a telling amount of casualties on the Japanese here at isurava, holding up their plans for a hasty advance across the mountains and into Port Moresby and setting the scene for the magnificent fighting withdrawal that was to come that would eventually halt the enemy and allow others to drive them back to the sea. 14.01.2022 In order to anticipate the new World order in regard to truth our trek leaders will seek to weave the following terms into their daily trek briefings: No youll be fine we see lots of people with a high body mass index on the trail . . . Youll only have a problem crossing the Brown River if you are vertically challenged . . .... Youre all looking so fit and fresh this morning Ive never seen so many people look so good at 4.30 am . . . You will enjoy today your feet will stay dry, its mostly flat and we should arrive in camp nice and early . . . Dont be intimidated by Brigade Hill some reckon its not much more than a speed-bump between Menari and Efogi . . . Youll enjoy the hot showers at Templetons Crossing tonight . . . Its OK to throw the grenades around to each other . . . but try not to drop any . . . Lets know if you have any other suggestions we are here to learn :-) https://www.afr.com//the-truth-will-set-you-free-and-the-t

14.01.2022 Repost from IG @kokodatrail_bookproject Hard to believe that tomorrow, 7 August 2020, marks two years since the beginning of my first trek of Kokoda Trail with @adventure_kokoda and my 16 fellow and inspiring trekkers of the @rslscakylc. The people, the history, the life lessons, and the conversations about the past and hopes for today and the future all had an incredible impact on me. Starting this evening, follow @kokodatrail_bookproject each day to see pic...tures from my camera roll of my time on the Trail, and how it all influenced and inspired me to collaborate with @adventure_kokoda and create our milestone Young Readers illustrated book #RosesAtEoraCreek, released in June 2020. - @rashmiibell Roses At Eora Creek book - information and purchase: https://www.kokodatreks.com//roses-at-eora-creek-by-rashm/

03.01.2022 Book Release: Roses At Eora Creek by Rashmii Bell - Adventure Kokoda are very pleased with the overwhelming response and positive feedback received since the release of Roses At Eora Creek by Rashmii Bell. Adventure Kokoda caught up with our collaborating author, Rashmii Bell, to have a brief chat about her process creating Roses At Eora Creek, and the wide reach the book has had since release.

03.01.2022 We invited Rashmii Bell, a PNG author, to join our Adventure Kokoda trek so that she could interpret the trek through the eyes of a PNG woman. Rashmii is the only Papua New Guinean to interpret the trek this way. She interacted with trekkers, guides, carriers, campsite owners, village womens groups and PNG support crews from other trekking groups. Her interpretations were published on the PNG Attitude Blog under the title Trail of Woe which was influenced by the exploitation she witnessed against her people. Her later book Roses at Eora Creek is an emotive piece of prose about the relationship between a trekker and her very loyal carrier. It should be a source of great pride for young Papua New Guineans and should be in every school in PNG. Book is available for purchase via our website.
