23.01.2022 OK. So we are at 141 0.01' E so I'm putting my mask on!

23.01.2022 Another photo of the land yacht "Venture Too".

22.01.2022 Some video of our trip to Raptor Domain on KI near Seal Bay. Definitely worth a visit! https://youtu.be/rDW2O2Bz7OE

22.01.2022 We had an awesome time in Flinders Chase the other day watching the seals at Admirals Arch. https://youtu.be/tuu8V2rrNZk

21.01.2022 Every time we go out in the gulf we get a visit from dolphins! Sad that this is the last time we see them on our Venture! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnQXILzbkv4

21.01.2022 The latest weather predictions have between 5 and 15 knots from the SE all afternoon Saturday through to midnight or so. Rather than bashing into that, we'll head off today from Robe on the tide ETA Portland around midday tomorrow. We would have liked a full days rest but you can't argue with the weather! Should be a beam or broad reach this afternoon in 15 to 25 knots calming down early Saturday. Couldn't really ask for better sailing weather!

20.01.2022 However, this won't be the end of Adventures on Venture as I still have about 3 years of blog, photos and videos to catch up on.

18.01.2022 Leaving Wirrina for Robe, ETA midday tomorrow. We'll be motoring must of the way untill the wind picks up tomorrow morning.l

17.01.2022 Just two of the many dolphins that came to frolic in the bow wave today. :)

16.01.2022 Having delivered Venture to her new owners, we have moved to the next phase of our adventures. This little number is "Venture Too", the land yacht. :)

14.01.2022 And then we sold the boat.

13.01.2022 At rest in Robe! We motored in almost flat calm right through Backstairs passage, through the Pages and down to Cape Jaffa when the wind picked up enough to turn the engine off. So we actually sailed for the first time since leaving Adelaide! Only 4 hours sailing out of 37 but rather that than heavy weather!... Here till Saturday when we do the last leg overnight to Portland. At the moment, it looks like we'll be back in Adelaide on Tuesday to hole up in a rental for two weeks. Bliss :-)

12.01.2022 So, on Monday we leave once again for the ocean blue, but only temporarily to deliver Venture to Victoria and her new owners, Markus and Pauline, the most patient people we know. We'll have masks at the ready and will have to do our two weeks isolation when we get back to SA again but it'll be worth it. I must admit to being a little daunted to be sailing again after all this time but on the other hand, it is one last hurrah to our beautiful Venture. <3

11.01.2022 FUN WITH BLACK LIGHTS! When we visited the Raptor Domain on Kangaroo Island we discovered that scorpions glow under black light so naturally we bought ourselves a black light. These are just some of the scorpions we found at Mambray Creek tonight. Take note of the mum and baby. That one was in the creek bank just in front of the tent.

11.01.2022 So we arrived just after lunch in Portland :-) We managed to sail about 60% of the way overnight with two reefs in the main, yankee and staysail hitting 7 knots over the ground at one point. She was hooting along :-) The new owners were there on the dock to catch a line and we've organised to catch up with them tomorrow arvo for a hand over.... So.. Bye Bye Venture :-)

10.01.2022 In the right conditions, like a beam reach in 15 knots on a calm sea, the wind has entertained us finding an open pipe somewhere on the stern causing soft, haunting flute-like music. It happened again yesterday and I think I caught it. Ignore the video and the noise from the sea and listen carefully. I can hear it because I know what I'm listening for. Hoping you can too.. Just one of the things we'll miss!... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMI4Qp4aPGM See more

09.01.2022 Sunrise over Cape Jaffa, 20nm from Robe where I think I'll have a kip!

08.01.2022 We've had to stay on the boat during the past week with its 40+ degree days and not much cooler nights. Thank goodness for airconditioning!

08.01.2022 Enjoying this camp site at Lashmar Conservation Park, KI. The serenity is cool :-)

06.01.2022 Sunrise over Cape Bridgewater. About 25 miles to Portland harbour!

05.01.2022 Leaving North Haven for Wirrina Cove. Nice and snug inside with the heater on last night :-)

05.01.2022 And some more dolphins off Aldinga this time. It seriously never gets old! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFseh7CDn0Q

04.01.2022 80nm from Robe with the sun going down. Hoping for some wind tomorrow morning so we can sail for a while.

03.01.2022 Stokes Bay and Western River Cove KI
