08.01.2022 Today we are thankful for KB7 Publishing Katie Whitehead Jones we join with them as they begin a new feature on their page #SharingSunday where they introduce y...ou to another bush business. We want to share a short interview with Katie and encourage you to check out their page and fabulous books!! #buyfromabushbusiness An exciting, enthusiastic and unique husband and wife team, Jet and Katie Jones live in the small (population 250!) town of Pentland in North Queensland with their three children. Jet writes, and Katie illustrates children's books about the bush. Why did you start your business? Katie: We wanted to give urban people a better understanding of the people and culture of the outback. We also wanted to provide a voice for bush writers and artists. What's the best part about the bush? Katie: The people, the culture, and the ever changing landscapes! There's no better place to raise children (in my opinion!). Tell us a bit about 'Not Far to Go Now' and 'Hard in the Yards': Katie: Our first book, 'Not Far to Go Now,' was about a cattle muster through the eyes of a little boy. 'Hard in the Yards' is about working in the cattle yards, again through the eyes of children. The models for the illustrations are our family, and are based off of photos taken while we were working. And what is your upcoming release/when is it coming out?? Katie: We actually have a few things in the works for this year! First off is something a bit different: Jet's true love actually isn't children's books. It's bush poetry. We're releasing a coffee table book of his bush poetry, with artwork by several bush artists, including myself. I've also got a top secret project on the go, and then of course we can't forget our next children's book, which will be about the chores station children have. #watchthisspace
