25.01.2022 For something a little different check out the Glass House Mountains National Park: Soldier Settlers Loop! SUITABILITY Perfect for walkers runners and mountain bikers this mostly flat 7.6km circuit takes in the old Beerburrum Cemetery, views of Mount Tibrogargan and native birdlife.... HIGHLIGHTS The trail offers great views of the Glass House Mountain peaks above, with usually a lot less people along the way than up there and an easier access route. If you do this walk late in the afternoon or early in the morning, you're likely to come across large flocks of Black cockatoos Make sure to pop up to Jack Ferris Lookout as the views of the local mountains are spectacular and it's a sight well earned by the journey here. Drop down off the lookout and you'll leave the park along Caves Rd to Mathew Flinders Park and the return path heads south along Steve Irwin Way back to Beerburrum and your car. AFTERWARDS While you are in this area, the Dularcha Tunnel is worth an explore. It runs between Landsborough and Mooloolah. Ewen Maddock Dam Main Track is also a great walk and mountain bike friendly. HOW TO GET THERE Heading along Steve Irwin Way turn west into Beerburrum Rd. You will immediately cross over the railway line and find Parrot Park on the right. You can park here or continue on a short way and turn right into the school’s carpark, where you see a blue cemetery sign. There are at Parrot Park and at Matthew Flinders Park on Steve Irwin Way. #chooseyournextadventure **For runners participating in the Great East Coast Virtual Run (which is all about encouraging our local runners to stay positive, healthy and active during a challenging year) - this is one of the recommended trails from Adventure Sunshine Coast to help you tally up your 1630km kilometres all the way to Cairns before the end of the year!!
