23.01.2022 Intro to outdoor climbing course - Rhiannon, Tahlia, Nathan and Emily all getting involved and developing skills around climbing techniques and systems, a great team making for good days, plenty entertainment and a bit of excitement (some caused by local fauna rather than the rock!). A slight rain delay for day three but everyone will get onto the big multi pitch route eventually. It was great to have you all on the course, hopefully see you at the crag sometime.
22.01.2022 ACIA SPG (Single Pitch Guide) Assessment - We will be running an ACIA SPG assessment on the 12th and 13th of December - If you are looking to complete an assessment and get involved with the ACIA then get booked on through the ACIA office or give us a shout for further info. (there are mandatory pre-requisites for this course)
22.01.2022 ACIA SPG (Single Pitch Guide) Assessment - The level of complexity involved with leading clients up single pitch trad routes, in entirely natural environments, is a significant step up from the more basic apsects involved with top rope situations only. It requires a commitment from the aspirant guides to develop their personal climbing, guiding skills and rescue skills, this commitment ensures that they are highly competent climbing guides across all single pitch situations. Steve and Jiri both showed this commitment and a range of well developed skills and abilities throughout the assessment, well done on passing and congratulations guys, it is great to have you as part of the professional association. Thanks also to our other ACIA assessor (Scott) for all your input and expertise throughout the assessment.
21.01.2022 Learn to Lead course - Ian and Sarah developing skills and knowledge around lead climbing. As they had previously done a bit of leading on bolts we reviewed a few things, looked at basic systems and principles for multi pitch routes, did a few mini-multi pitch routes at Monky rock and then got into the trad action. A great few days with adventure atmosphere provided by the weather conditions, thanks for coming on the course guys and keep on progressing with your trad adventures.
19.01.2022 Learn to lead course - having had a few postponements (2020 related) Jade, Cameron and Sean had done a bit more climbing and were feeling pretty confident with the basics, which meant that a few modifications were made to make the course into a "learn to Lead +" type of course (with a few of the fundamentals of multi pitch skills thrown in). Everyone did really well with the skills for trad leading and on some "mini multi pitches" at Monkey rock. Getting stuck into some of the South Coast classics was high on the post course agenda. Happy safe climbing guys, see you at the crag sometime.
10.01.2022 West Cape Howe Experience - Having done a bit of indoor climbing Matt and Junie decided to take their climbing outdoors, it is a bit of a leap from indoor to WCH but it will certainly get you out of your comfort zone and provide a bit of challenge! A good day with great people and even a few perfoming whales.
06.01.2022 Intro to Outdoor Climbing - There is a lot to climbing outdoors and many different directions that you can take it, from having full on adventure days to short technical / physical challenges. Kate, Chris and Liam developed a range of skills for climbing outdoors and got to experience a range of different styles. Thanks for coming along on the course folks, it was great to be out there with you.
05.01.2022 Intro to Outdoor Climbing - A great few days with Monica and Dominic helping them develop climbing skills, techniques, knowledge and experience. It was good to be out there with you guys, hopefully we will see you back down on the South coast again.
03.01.2022 Skills workshop - It is not often I find myself up in the metro area, however a few days up around the quarries in the sun and warmth running some skills training for city based adventure training team was nice for a change (still pretty chilly and damp down south!).
01.01.2022 Introduction to Sea Kayaking - Developing a solid understanding of paddling principles early on enables you to get more development, enjoyment and be safer whilst kayaking. Eliza and Matt showed great enthusiasm and progress throughout the three days, starting off by developing good techniques through focus on fundamental principles (body, boat, blade) then progressing to to apply that in wind and swell (lots of Easterlies at the moment!). Good job guys, great to be on the water with you for a few days, happy paddling. If you would like focused coaching to progress, refine or push your paddling and safety / rescue skills then give us a shout, we have courses to suit most and can deliver custom training on request.
